On tap at the Eccentric Cafe, served in a pint glass.
Dark brown/black in colour, with a tan head. Mild retention and some decent lacing. Nose of cocoa, dark chocolate, an understated coffee/roast note and some gentle lactose/creaminess. More coffee and roast flavours on the palate, dark chocolate with a quite creamy texture. Generally sweet on the palate, but leans more towards roasty and bitter in the finish. Medium heavy feel. A substantially satisfying milk stout, I can only imagine having this on nitro would be sublime.

The blackboard at Bell's describes this beer as "sweet, rich, contains lactose, 5.6%." It's a nice beer, but I find it neither sweet nor rich. It has a nice roastiness on the nose, but it's a bit thin on the palate. A very good beer; tasty, but nothing remarkable.

I thought this beer was very drinkable. Kinda reminded me of the Left Hand Milk stout which is always good. Creamy and dark. Roasted, chocolaty, coffee flavors mixed in...maybe a bit of vanilla on the back? The nose matches the palate on this one. What you smell is what you get, and either way you'll be satisfied! If Bell's did growlers, I'd a brought one home!

Served in a pint glass at Meridian Pint's Bell's Night of Darkness.
Pours near black with a solid tan head with a good bit of lacing and a nice collar. The nose is a bit tame with a bit of roast and chocolate. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt given the glassware and the fact that it got quite a bit better as it warmed up.
The flavor is quite nice and complex with a chocolate sweetness plus a touch of coffee. Nice roasted character and a bit of black licorice in the finish. The feel is ridiculously creamy and smooth with a nice chewiness. Awesome, awesome body. Almost certainly the best milk stout that I've ever had. I really hope they bottle this.

YUM!!! New Bell's beer on tap at Meridian Pint. Beer served in a shaker pint glass. Beer is black with a tan head that falls away and breaks, pulls to the walls of the glass quickly, leaving very little lacing behind.
The aroma is really mild, most of Bell's stouts have a very underwhelming aroma. Mild sweetness, mild malt.
Beer is medium bodied and pretty creamy with some really nice chocolate sweetness in the midpalate of the beer. It's really nice drinking. One of the better sweet stouts I've had. The finish isn't overly bitter, overall it's a very nice stout.
