I love how straightforward Bell’s is when it comes to nomenclature. This, their smoked stout, is aptly titled Smoked Stout. It pours a dark black with thin, tight bubbles, and has a big smoked malt aroma that dominates. The flavor is all about the smoke as well, with smoked malts domineering over a more subtle roast malt and subdued sweetness on the finish.

On tap at Bell's. Listed at 7.4% ABV on the board
A - Black with a small amount of white head and some lacing.
S - Roasted malts with subtle smoke aroma that is present but not overwhelming.
T - Roasted malts and smoke. The smoke is perfect - present without dominating the palate. A slight bitterness is present as well as a touch of coffee.

On-tap at Bryant Lake Bowl for the Oberon release party. Probably my favorite beer of the night, except for Hopslam of course.
Jet black, thick head. Great head retention.
Smoked malt fills the nose with a little bit of milk stout sweetness to follow.
A rich malt base with moderate sweetness followed by a big dose of smoked malt. Not overly smokey, but it is the highlight. A really nice and drinkable smoked stout.
Soft, smooth velvety feel. Medium body.
I really enjoyed this one. I'm a big fan of smoked beers and this one is a really good example of a smoked stout. I would love to have it again.

Enjoyed at the Eccentric Cafe.
A: has a somewhat flat appearance with light passing through, more of a dark brown than black, not much head
S: campfire, smoke, roasted malt, chocolate. Nice aroma.
T: smokey character up front with lots of chocolate and molasses towards the finish. Pretty straight forward smoked stout.
MF: thin body, high carbonation
D: nice smoke character, well balanced, easy drinking

On tap at the cafe.
A-Dark black in color with a tan head
S-Light smoke flavor with a bit of malt.
T-Not that smokey. It is very subtle. Don't know if I would call it a smoked stout, but it is decent none the less.
M-Medium bodied and smooth
D-Good. Was done with my beer in a decent amount of time.

On-tap at the Eccentric Cafe, poured into a 5oz tasting glass...A nice color of dark black, a light tan head equally nice. However, poor retention resulting in a thin cap, and not much lacing...The aroma is boring, only a hint of smoke with a chocolate finish. Don't name your beer smoked if there's not a ton of smoke, boring...Taste is light and boring. The smoke is more prominent but shows off more charred and ashy, not very good.
I'd pass on this.

Served on tap at Bells Eccentric Cafe. Dark black body with a dark tan head. Minimal lacing.
Great smoky aroma with some roasted malt in the mix.
Very tasty flavors. A smoky blend of roasted malt with just a hint of coffee and sweet licorice.
Very drinkable, especially for the decent abv. Great brew.

I had this on tap at the Eccentric Cafe, served in a pint glass. This was dark brown with a thin tan head, basic stout appearance. Nice smoked malts in the nose, that and roasted malts, excellent. Good strong rauch character without going too far over the edge, other malts keep it grounded.
Meaty and smoky, this is exactly what I was looking for. Roasty and smoky up front, a little sweet and smoky in back, no evident bitterness. The body is a little north of medium, fitting well with the flavors, very happy to have it again any time.

On tap at Meridian Pint's Night of Darkness event. Served in a snifter.
Pours a dark brown color and has a towering head, especially when considering the style. Considerable lacing is left on the sides of the glass as it falls down to a nice cap. The aroma brings some slightly-meaty smoke as well as a touch of roasted cocoa and malt.
The flavor is fairly smokey without too much else backing it up. There is a bit of a roasted malt character, though the roast lends itself more to the feel, which finds a nice spot short of too smokey. Drinkability was decent enough, but nothing about this one was all that remarkable. It was a pretty good take on the style, however.

Out of all the stouts on draft at Meridian Pint (I had 7), this had the best head. Black beer with a big dark brown head of medium and large bubbles that clings to the glass leaving a little lacing behind. Carbonation appears low.
Aroma is more forward than the others, mild malt, some roast and some smoke as well.
Beer is medium bodied with almost nothing on leadoff. A little chocolate in the midpalate, mild sweetness at the back and the finish of the beer contains the bitterness from the black patent and some nicely incorporated smoke. It's a good beer, not overly smoky.
