Single bottle (batch 9636) poured into a shaker pint glass. No other dates on the bottle. The label is a map of MI showing the Saginaw Bay area where I used to live for awhile...so from this nostalgia I decided to pick up a bottle.

Appearance: Hazy light golden yellow color with a persistent thin white foam across the top. The foam poured chunky and thick (1/2" thick) but died down to a thinner layer. Strands of lacing here and there noted.

Smell: Citrus/lemony zing with a malty smell and a musty dry finish.

Taste: A very crisp beer with a solid bitter finish. There is no sweetness to this beer at all, but is not mouth-puckeringly bitter either. It's a nice crisp bitterness with a solid lemon/citrus-like tang/tartness aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation is good. The beer is thicker than water and goes down really easy with only a little bit of lingering on the teeth.

Drinkability: I view this as an all around good beer, but, I can't see myself having more than one in a sitting by itself. This is really a beer to have with a meal. That crispness and bitter finish suggests something best paired with a meal...I don't know what yet, but something to counteract another strong flavor. Fish maybe? Again, good beer, but even with it's nice ABV I can't see this as sessionable for me anyway.

12 oz. bottle, with bottled on date 11/01/2012. Interested in trying this beer, haven't had a beer by Bell's in a while now.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours about a finger of sizzling fizzy white head on top of a bright yellow body with plenty of bubbles floating to the top and sediment swirling around. Thin ring of wispy lacing.

S - Fresh lemon peel. Fruity bubblegum wheat. Pale dusty malts. Grassy and earthy, as the lemon smell dissipates.

T - Surprisingly grainy, hoppy, and bitter. Fruity hops never become too dominant amidst the dry earthy malt flavors. Surprisingly well-balanced with flavor.

M - Slightly dry and bitter, yet smooth and creamy feeling at the same time.

Overall, this is a surprisingly tasty and balanced beer. Bit of carbonation, which is to be expected considering this beer's low 4.80% abv, but it is never too much. Lightly bodied, and low in abv, I can see this beer being an excellent sipper for hot summer days. A simple beer, not complex, but highly drinkable and enjoyable.
