Bell's Oberon Ale pours a hazy orange tinged gold with a creamy white head. The head has good rentention.

It has aromas of malt with hints of spice and citrus.

The taste is crisp with hints of lemon citrus and some hints of fruity esters.

Its mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing with a good amount of carbonation for the style. Its body is on the light side of medium.

Overall this is a good example of the style. It is very sessionable and perfect for the season.

Appearance: Oberon pours a cloudy orange- amber, with big white head foaming at two fingers, then settling to a thin lingering lace. I said cloudy, but that cloudiness is not there until you pour the last bit from the bottle.

Smell: There's a lot of wheat on the nose up front, with some orange peel and spice.
Taste: Orange rind and lemon zest jump out at first and invite you in. There's a light and crisp hop presence. All throughout, the wheat malt and yeast flavor stands out and holds it all together.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and crisp are how I'd describe mouthfeel here. Carbonation is good.

Overall: The good folks at Bell's have done the world a great service here. Oberon is a great, light, refreshing summer beer, perfect for a hot day under the sun, or a rainy day wishing the sun would show it's face. The balance of zesty citrus with the sweet and mellow wheat malt backbone combine to make a beautiful ale.

Poured from tap into pint at yardhouse in palm beach gardens Florida. Golden color with small amount of head. I actually expected more head and a hazier looking brew. Nice crisp clean bright citrus and slightly hoppy aroma. Taste is really nice subtle citrus hop and wheat malts. Really refreshing and easy to drink. Really a great summer brew...kind of reminds me of sumpin sumpins baby brother...

poured 12oz bottle into a small Pilsner style glass

A - Hazy orange sun color with a 2 finger white head. Some lacing. Noticed small particles suspended in the liquid.

S - Orange rind, soft spice notes, lemon zest, wheat and straw.

T - More wheat and straw with subtle sweetness and spices. Orange rind comes through nicely and has a bit of lemon and citrus zest mixed in.

M - Nice and light with a crisp and zesty finish that drinks well in the warmer months.

O - Great beer to have with a meal or at a picnic. Nothing that will blow you away, but a very nice refreshing beer to enjoy.

Having heard good things about this summer ale, I picked up a 6 pack.

It poured out with a slight haze with a fairly small one-finger head.

The smell was certainly not overehelmiing ... mostly wheat and the taste was, I thought, I little flat.

So be it ... I'll keep trying!
