Cold and snowy Monday night in the village of Waterbury. Plenty of seating available. Atmosphere is a mix of classic British pub and modern beer-bar chic. I can see a turn-of-the (19th) century drug store inhabiting this space in the past. You can seat yourself in the bar area or be seated in the more formal dining area, which was set off to the left.
Nice, eclectic tap list that is obviously well chosen; featuring the Siren/Hill Farmstead/Mikkeller collaboration, other Hill Farmstead delights, some Lawson's (no Double Sunshine) and top-notch regionals as well as a concise choice of Imports and Nationals. The girlfriend had the chicken pot pie which was filling, yummy and hit the spot right on for the weather. Being a wanna-be foodie I had the foie gras, and felt a bit guilty; an emotion that was quickly cured by a few more good beers.
Prices seemed fairly reasonably if not a bit high, but nothing to gripe about. The service was decent as far as timeliness, but if you're looking for congeniality, go somewhere else. The bar tender was arrogant, if not downright condescending to me. I may not be the most sophisticated of beer drinkers, but I know what I want, and I have a good idea of what I'm getting. I welcome suggestions, and enjoy chatting about the brew, but don't talk down to me, and don't try and short-change me on a cash transaction. All that being said, the waitress was nice and helpful.
Towns this small aren't supposed to have beer bars this good.

By far the best location in Waterbury.
Great atmosphere. We were able to get a table quickly by the bar, and were taken care of very well by the bartender. I greatly enjoyed my food (pulled pork platter), but other in my party were a little less enthusiastic.
Most important part... had Hill Farmstead Edward, Harlan, and Susan on tap. Susan was not available at Hill Farmstead brewery during th same time time, so I had the opportunity to try it there. They also offered half-pours which allowed me to try several different beers. We apparently just missed it Lawson's Hopzilla (keg was tapped), and Heady was not on tap at the time.

Three days in Waterbury on my beercation and I went here twice. Pro Pig is where you can allegedly sometimes find Heady Topper on draft, or maybe Lawson's Double Sunshine, or one of the Hill-Farmstead gems. None of these were available on my visits, but other VT brews were plentiful and pleasing to my Norcal hopaholic palate. 25-ish taps obviously changing day by day. Really personable staff, conversant in craft beers, nice bottled liquor bar as well, and best comfort food I had in Waterbury.

This was probably my tenth time to the pig and it gets better every time. While spending a week in waitsfield on a family vacation we stopped by for lunch. I started off lunch with a lost nation oktoberfest which was probably the best I have had of the style. Another great brewery out of Vermont kicking out some great beers. Back to lunch...I had the brisket sandwich which was excellent and the service couldn't have been better. My family and I worked our way through the taps for the remainder of the afternoon and had a blast. The pig is a must if you are in the waterbury area.

I want to move to Waterbury VT perfect small town USA . The pig is a great spot to grab some unbelievable beers and some great Q .Having heard about this place the waitress coudnt bring the tap list fast enough (and she was lightning fast) . Once I put a Lawson's to my lips I was finally at ease, but carefully studied the jaw dropping list for the next ten minutes plotting my next few beers. Waitress was super fast and unbelievably attentive coudnt ask for better service!!! I had a brisket sandwich that was real good not very big and a little pricy considering it was a la cart. The group I was with split an order of wings that were phenomenal you can tell they use fresh locally sourced ingredients with quality in mind . I have been cooking barbeque for well over ten years ,and competing in bbq competitions the last 3 years so I'm a little bit of a "Q" snob not to mention ridiculously sick of eating barbeque , but enjoyed my meal very much . Three plus hours is a long ride for lunch but this place is well worth it

Stopped by after the Hill Farmstead bottle release and also hitting the Alchemist for some Heady Toppers!
Great bar and restaurant setup...a little small but cozy.
Waitress was quick to set us up and was very friendly.
Food menu was a little on the small side but the food that the group ordered all received great reviews. Beer list was very diverse and had many of the beers you would expect a VT bar to have.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice stop to have a quick bite to eat and enjoy a few excellent beers.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm. Was able to quickly grab a few seats at the bar. nice, dimly lit bar area with a decent amount of tables behind the bar patrons. Quick and attentive service. Very nice selection with a bunch of VT beers on tap. Half servings available which is always a plus. Shared some wings, pretzel knots and hush puppies. All were very good though the wings were a tad dry. Still all in all a very positive experience. FYI-the flooding after Hurricane Irene left the water in the place up to the taps we were informed....amazing to think when you sit there. Well worth the trip, especially since you went to Alchemist and there was no Heddy Topper!! ;-)

Came here after dropping the family @ Ben & Jerry's factory.
Very nice rustic ambiance, cozy, a little small. Lots of breweriana including a Westy tray. Draft list is expansive, spanning different genres: Schlitz, He'brew, Evil Twin, Hopfenstark, etc... with loads of locals like Hill Farmstead, Fiddelhead, Von Trapp, and more. Prices are very reasonable for half and full pours. Didn't have any food but it did look delicious. Bartenders were very nice and attentive. Will be coming back here for sure and will probably bring the family next time!

Finally getting around to reviewing this onetime Alchemist brewery/brewpub which changed hands when tropical storm Irene wrecked the brewery in the basement in 2011. The Alchemist moved to a new bigger brewery/retail store north of town, which was our next destination after dinner.
The Pig was a main stop on our impromptu August 17th Great Craft Beer of New England Tour. There for an early dinner.
Fun storefront with potted and hanging plants and the logo on the big display windows, plus a high-mounted wonderful lifesize metal (?) pig with a huge butcher knife looming over his head. Smallish interior with around twenty tables and a bar seating maybe a dozen, if I recall correctly.
Had heard this place can be jammed during peak hours, but Saturday at 5 was apparently not quite in that category. We were quickly seated at one of several empty tables.
Beer selection was of course to die for. Heady Topper, two Lawson's including Double Sunshine, and two Hill Farmsteads including Edward. plus a lot of other great beers. I chose three eight ounce servings (I was driving and we had not planned to stay overnight). HT, DS and Lawson's Maple Wheat, the last because I thought my IPA-hating wife might like it,- and because I missed seeing Edward on there until we were about to leave LOL.
Food was ok, barbeque is a specialty but I thought the brisket was rather toughish and too dry, although adding some of their Southern sauce helped. The peel-and-eat jumbo shrimp platter which my wife ordered was excellent. And so were the Double Sunshine and Heady Topper!
Being able to try HT and DS after being totally shut out at three (later three more including the HT brewery store) stores which usually stock them this time of year was a real trip-saver. Thank you Pig People of Waterbury!

My wife, nine month old son and I walked in and were greeted and seated promptly. There was water on the table immediately as the the server asked if we would like to have a drink. The bottle menu is incredible; to the point where I wonder how "aged" the beers were that I could order.
The BBQ pork butt sandwich was perfect and messy. My wife enjoyed the veggie burger and was quite surprised to find that it had been made in-house. The duck fat fries are perfect.
I ordered the Allagash White along with my wife as it was on tap. For a second beer I ordered a bottle of Petrus Oud Bruin. It was brought to the table and I was expected to pour; not a problem but it took away from the service aspect.
Service was swift but lacking finesse. This is not a major issue just something to address as the years progress.
Incredible liquor bar available. HUGE selection there as well.
Just down the street is the Green Mountain Coffee visitor center and one of their roasting plants that gives tours. Awesome coffee. Manager is from Knoxville, TN and very nice to talk with about coffee.
