I'm not a fan of IPAs. I pretty much avoid them, but I really enjoy this brew. Smells like orange zest and pine mulch. Somewhat citrusy flavor and has a mild, slightly bitter hop that is very drinkable for someone who generally dislikes IPAs as a rule. I would drink this one all year, but seems especially suited for summer drinking given the tart nose and dry flavor.

On tap at the open house on 2/16.
Appearance: Pours a golden orange color with a finger of a white head.
Smell: Smells of fresh hops, grapefruit, pine and some grass.
Taste - Taste is very good and very fresh. Mirrors the nose with a sweet bready backbone. Not very bitter at all.
Mouthfeel: Medium mouthfeel. You don't taste the 8% at all.
Overall: Overall very good IPA.

16oz growler, served at around 45F. Kegged in November 2012 if memory serves.
Pours cloudy amber with a two finger off-white head that leaves nice rings of lacing and recedes to a light cap.
Aroma is oranges, orange marmalade, citrusy hops, melon, caramel malt, a hint belgian-y. Good strength.
Flavor is orange marmalade, melon, fruity hops, decent bit of caramel malt with some sweetness, average bitterness, light alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, oily, good carbonation.
Strikingly similar to the Ezekiel’s Wheel...almost makes me wonder if it is Ezekiel’s, but the keg is marked as Cannon Dragger. Lots of fruity hops and almost a Belgian character. Pretty good, but awfully expensive for what it is. I know they’re an upstart, but their pricing is pretty extreme.

Somewhat understated for a double IPA. To me it's more representative of a Belgian IPA. Hence, I poured it from the growler to a Duvel shifter. Nonetheless, this is a nice offering from Burnt Hickory. It smells of piney, citrusy and I am even picking up a hint of tangerine. Very smooth mouthfeel, the bitterness is quite understated. Overall, I would say this is a good beer for introducing one of your friends to the IPA style, especially if they notoriously poo-poo this style. It's great to have so many high quality craft brewers in the Atlanta area. The beer landscape is vastly changing before our very eyes!

12oz pour at Wild Wing Cafe (Marietta, GA) 3.95. Served in a boring 12oz cylinder glass.
Pours deep red orange with a soft clingy half finger of pale head. Sheets of lacing throughout.
Smells of robust citrus and pine with some sweet malts in the background.
Taste delivers on those big citrusy hops. Grapefruit, orange zest, pine resin and slight mango with sweet biscuit and peppery in the finish. The booze is well integrated, being noticeable but never distracting.
Oily slick medium full feel with average carbonation. Long bitter pepper grapefruit aftertaste.
Another outstanding brew from Burnt Hickory. With an IPA this robust I'm really looking forward to trying their imperial IPA. Highly recommended.

Appearance: Served up a well-hazed, medium amber-hued body with a medium-small, creamyish, off-white head.
Smell: Initially, a sniff of caramel squares, then, inviting citrus hop notes, florals, some stern-looking resins, and, then, another closing hint of caramel.
Taste: Sweetish, malty caramel flavor propped up by toasted grains joined by resinous floral tones and pithy citrus accents hinting at times of lemon, at times of grapefruit. Moderate bitterness. Mild alcohol presence. A bit more caramel prior to the bittersweet, citrus-hinted finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Fairly smooth.
Overall: Good stuff! There are some shades of DFH 90 Minute here, I feel.

A: Medium clear amber honey. Starts with a nice head and leaves some nice lacing. good start
S: Not an overwhelming aroma like some of the greats but what I'm expecting to smell is still there. Nice grapefruit and pine notes with a spring floral aroma
T: Taste has a clean hop flavor that makes it quite refreshing. A little more on the bitter side than Dijits but theres enough of a backbone to keep it drinkable.
M: Nice carbonation throughout the experience with a creamy silky feel that doesn't give me hop burn on the throat
O: Like the other beers ive had from the Burnt Hickory, they all have been really drinkable. The clean hop flavor is something I wouldn't mind having everynight and I'm glad beers like these are coming from georgia.
