130IBUs?

After doing some very preliminary research, I knew this was the first and only pint I needed to order here...and yes, you read that right: 130 ibus!; I think this is the highest claimed amount of IBUs I've ever drank in a beer; some folks in our party say the beer has a distinct anise flavor...I say it smells like heaven; the color is bright and solid amber; no head and light non-consistent lacing; the nose is like a grapefruit slap in the face; amazingly, this beer doesn't taste as boozy as 9%abv; I'm a huge fan of this beer...kudos for aggressive experimentation.

Excellent Belgian yeasty smell, tasting notes of sweet caramel, sugar, mealy bread with delicious subway-esque bakery yeasty with a long tapering finish and light spicy floral notes. For a 130 IBU it is phenomenally easy drinking. Bravo. Light, clear, orange look.

Look: hop hazed yellow with orange hues
smell: Belgian esters dominate hop aroma.
taste: bubblegum, belgian earth, mild hop resin/dankness, touch of citrus, heat
Mouthfeel: classic belgian lightness, with a touch of hop body
Overall: solid Belgian dipa, would have preferred the hops to have more of a presence. Beer felt dominated by Belgian yeast. Also alcohol heat could be toned down

Well, the name is a mouthfull, and so is the beer.

Pours a nice solid golden color, nice billowing head. Some rocks. Lacing is great

Hops and yeast dominate the nose. White pepper, coriander and clove. Followed closely and powerfully by the hops. Citrus and tropical.

One thing I don't really love about B-IPAs is the emphasis on the B. This one does not fit that complaint. The Belgian flavors/spices (coriander, clove, bubblegum and white pepper) are there and provide a good flavor profile The soft biscuit and hops are what makes this beer really good. Yes, it's hoppy, buth combo of Belgian and American flavors is great.

Nice feel on it. Bitey, but not boozey. A really good beer

Great clarity. Awesome three-finger white (with slight green tinted head), brew is amber colored with lots of red and orange. yum.

Boom goes Belgium! BUT, not overly Belgian. Banana, spice, pineapple, mango, Pepper, cloves, unique.

Dry, awsome wet front with an incredibly dry and bitter aftertaste. Belgian yeast leads to weat coast dry-bitterness. Peppery, mango, red apple, bready, papery dryness, leather, and tobacco flavors and feel.

A great Belgian IPA which packs a nice punch @ 9%.. Definitely to be shared, as stated on the label. Well done River North, keep em' coming.. Highly recommended and VERY unique.

22oz into a pint

A - Pours a deep opaque orange color. Pearly white head that doesn't really build, just sits there as a film.

S - Very strong citrus notes, seemingly combining a floral hop character and what I think is the belgian yeast coming through. A little phenols are there.

T - Starts off smooth and sweet, going with pilsner and piles of 2row malts. Mid-stream the yeast takes over - the esters and white peppers rule the day. There are some citrus hops as well, a nice compliment. Finishes with a bit of sweetness and an increasing white pepper base.

M - Thick and creamy, carbonation is strong but just not enough to convince me its balanced or too in line with the nature of other belgians. alcohol warmth grows strong as the beer goes along.

O/D - A very solid belgian IPA. Hits all the main points for this non-traiditional style. A little bit boozy. A bit hefty and filling. The most notable flavors are just a little too muddled to consider this my favoriate BIPA, but its sure up there. I"ll have to try more beers from this brewery.

Bomber labeled as Hypothesis.

Seved cold into a goblet.

Hypothesis is a golden amber color with great clarity and thin short-lived head.

Aroma is sweet and slightly spicy but has surprisingly little hop aroma for a double IPA.

Flavor is much stronger and mor bitter than the aroma would suggest. A slightly sweet start to the sip leads to a big bitter hop bite towards the middle. It finishes a bit more dry but the hoppiness lingers on.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated.

Overall a solid effort from a River North. It has similar elements to its saison, probably the yeast, but is geared more for the hop head.

This is an extremely smooth ale. Seems to be much more on the Belgian side of things as opposed to the IPA side, as the hops are minimal in comparison to the sweet tones of the beer. Pretty thick body and flavor profile., but still quite pleasant to drink. Glad I had a chance to pick this one up.

double ipa, like this one a lot. pours clear golden with a slight amber hue and a great big white head with awesome lacing. smell is right on, lots og big fresh citrusy hops, so juicy in the nose you could wring it out. love the smell. impeccably fresh. flavor is not as intense as the nose, but delicious for sure. hoppy yet balanced by some interesting beklgian yeast and pale malts. a very very drinkable big ipa. mouthfeel works well, medium carbonation and medium body, this is good juice. ive heard they are going to bottle this, which should bring some recognition to this place. all of the river north beers are good.

Got a bottle at Mile High in early April.

For the high ABV and 130 IBUs, this drank smooth. The belgian yeast kept the hops toned down. The grassiness, grapefruit notes were relatively subdued. The high alcohol is well hidden so be wary if you take down a whole bomber solo.

The color is on the darker side of the IPA spectrum.

Shared with a few folks and it went down very quickly. Another solid newcomer to the Denver craft brew scene.

On tap at the brewery. According to the chalk board the beer has ~130 IBUs with ~9.0%ABV. Served with a 10oz pour the beer arrives a hazy golden color with a small 1/2 finger white head, some retention and lacing. The nose is malty with caramel tones. The hops are bright but not entirely dominant with hints of tangerine, peach, passion fruit, and grapefruit. The flavor starts and ends bitter. As malty as the nose lets on. Caramel malt and fruit flavor as described in the aroma. Finishes dry with a lingering malty citrus bitterness. Full bodied and well carbonated. Overall, not a bad brew at all. Not sure how many I could drink both due to the high abv and the high bitterness, though.
