This very small bar and restaurant, is very close to Konstablerwache U Bahn station, junction of ZEIL next to a Starbucks Coffee store and opposite a McDonalds.
Small outdoor seating area, and interior has tables for about 30 people.
Beers on tap were Binding, but also had the good Krusovice Czech lager (Hell and Dunkel) also the usual Binding version of Weiss - Schöfferhofer, Guiness and some bottled beers.
Very good value food menu, and although we didn't eat here, the food appeared to be generous portions and well received by those around. We had good service here the three times we visited (mid-day) by various staff and we made it a regular stop for a beer when in the ZEIL shopping street area.
Can imagine it would be very busy in the evenings, because of the good food prices and you may find it difficult to get a seat if you intend eating here.
Well recommended - just a pity about the Binding beers!

Solber Fäss'je, which refers to salted meat in small barrels, is a small but cozy restaurant and bar. The bar seats about 6 on stools, and there are 2 small tables near the bar. The interior is long and narrow, with large windows at the front, the bar running allow the wall, and in the rear several booths for dining (seating approximately 30). The layout is more reminiscent of an American style bar than a traditional German bierhall. The restrooms are downstairs and the kitchen is upstairs. There is some outdoor seating during the warmer weather.
The bar offers liquor and about 6 beers on tap. The beers on tap are good (e.g., Binding Pils, Guinness stout, Schöfferhofer Weizen, Královský Pivovar Kruovice dunkel, etc.). The beers are served in matching branded glassware. There is a modest but very good selection of bottled beer available. The service is efficient and very friendly. This is a family-run establishment.
The food is traditional German for the Frankfurt region. Specialties include Schweinehaxe and Eisbein. Many dishes are served with saurekraut and mashed potatoes. The food I have sampled on numerous visits is quite delicious, and served in very large portions. A menu in English is available, and the bartender-owner and his son both speak English very well.
This place seems to be a haven for English speakers, and it is not uncommon for more than half the customers to be speaking English. I think they are drawn here by the great food, beer, and service, and the convenient location. This is definitely a comfortable place to stop in for a glass of beer or a hearty meal. You might find yourself staying longer than you intended.
Located just off the Zeil shopping area of Frankfurt (and not far from another brewpub, Zu den Zwölf Aposteln). Nearest U-bahn station is Konstablerwache.
Last visit 25-November-2006. (Closed Sundays, except for a few per year during fests.)
