From the bottle, it pours a reddish brown color with a modest head, soon reducing to an island and thin ring. In the nose, it is malty with roasted notes. In the mouth, it is roasted and caramel malts, slightly sweetish.

Deep purple color.
Nice white head; strong lace. Very loud as it dissipates!
Smoke and dark plum in the nose; enticing. Unique.
Medium mouthfeel.
Dark fruit flavor; plums, dark cherries. Slight metallic taste; I wonder if this is old. Tart.

Dark reddish-brown with a thin and fizzy tan froth.
Aroma of faint gum, grain and black grape.
This one is super sweet with molasses, black grape and burnt sugar. Almost cloying, but not quite.
Medium with noticeable alcohol heat but not overwhelming.
Always love to come upon a new Doppelbock on the shelf, but might pass over this one next time. Then again, I might not.
