While I used to be regular at Lyle's when I lived in the area, I hadn't been there in a few years until recently.

Lyle's had always been a great place to belly up for cheap drinks & food, while hanging out with an eclectic crowd. That aspect hasn't changed. What has changed is the beer selection. You used to only be able to drink Summit EPA if you wanted a craft beer, they have added numerous more taps now. This means you can drink most local and regional breweries that distribute to Minneapolis.

Happy Hour: it is almost harder to be at Lyle's when they DON'T have Happy Hour than when they do. They offer 2-4-1s three times a day, which makes Lyle's great place to visit when you are on a budget.

No windows, so you need to walk outside to determine if it is 11AM or 11PM.

The service hasn't changed. The bartenders and servers are professionals, but they will not suffer fools. If you are well-behaved, the service is fine.

The food is typical pub grub.

Overall, Lyle's is the same as it has always been, only with a lot more beer variety than they used to offer. Stop in and try it for yourself.
