A: Pours a clear golden color with a moderate head and no real lacing.
S: Clean aroma of malt, fresh grain and just a bit of sweetness.
T: Taste of malt and fresh grain with a mild sweetness. There is a very subtle bitterness and a dry finish.
F: Light body, very crisp and smooth. Decent balance and a very clean feel.
Nice beer that goes down very easy. Fairly bland but was still enjoyable. Compliments Japanese cuisine very well. Quite good for the style.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacy rings of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of apples and bready malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except the flavors are slightly stronger and also have some hints of grainy malts and grassy hops. A slight amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, rather smooth and somewhat clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and seems a little bland but doesn’t have any offensive aromas or flavors.

Poured from 650mL can into a pint glass.
Appearance: medium gold hue with a haze-free body and a ton of effervescence. Head is two fingers of frothy white foam with moderately good retention. This is a good-looking example of the style.
Smell: the aroma is of light, sweet malt. There's not a lot of character here, but also not any major flaws. Pretty decent!
Taste: lightly sweet malt flavor which is exceptionally clean. None of that artificial plastic-like flavor you get in a lot of macros. Hops are almost nonexistent, but there is a tiny hint of bitterness which indicates their presence. Inoffensive and drinkable.
Mouthfeel: light body with a moderate effervescence. It neither develops a big creaminess nor provides a prickly, refreshing fizziness. Not terrible, but not interesting.
Overall: I like this beer. For a macro lager, it is surprisingly clean and tasty, as well as eminently drinkable.

A nice clear slightly darker than average lager color, with a bright white head that stays for a bit. Little bit of lacing. Smell is sweet grain but its a bit deeper than expected. Slightly floral earthy hops balance out the nose. Taste is very balanced and impressive. Clean, sweet grain dominates the palate and finishes dry with a slight earthy hop bitterness. Carbonation and mouthfeel are appropriate and enjoyable. Good stuff for the style and I'd have one whenever an easy-drinker is needed. Especially against regular Sapporo and other rice lagers.

Picked this up at Top Hops a few weeks back on the day I bought the Wesvleteren 12. I never had this before and it was always on my list of beers to try out. This turned out to be surprisingly decent and a much better example of the style than the other versions I've had in the past out of green bottles. While it has a bit of the sour grass feeling in the back, the main flavors and mouthfeel held up well and this was relatively easy to enjoy and drink.
The pour to this was what I expected - clear, golden, and with a nice head. There was some lacing to be seen but not a lot of aroma to be detected here. Nice bright mouthfeel with lots of lemon, grass, and grain to be found here, with just a touch of honey underneath it all. The sourness kicked in just a bit in the back but the malty flavors reminded me that this was indeed liquid bread. There never felt skunked or gave me impression that too much grain was here and the hops didn't overpower either, even though they were present throughout my session.
Session beers don't get much better than this when it comes to Lagers and unlike Pabst, this didn't have any potato chip-like starch in the mouthfeel. While this didn't blow me away, I'd have another of these over mass-market examples of this style and would love to try it with some Japanese fare. The world needs more beers like this that are light in hue but filling enough in taste and body, as a reminder that not all Lagers need to feel smelly and watered-down.
