on tap at the brewpub

Completely clouded pale yellow color with a bone white head resting on top. Retains pretty well, eventually leaving some spotty lacing on the glass with a collar of film.

Bright, inviting citrusy scents with lemon peel and juice. Bretty funk and a tart snap with straw, toasted wheat malts and soft sweetness.

Expressive hoppiness up front with plenty of juicy lemon and citrus. Bretty funk and tartness really kicks it up a notch, integrating pretty nicely into the profile. Mild backbone, toasted bread and fresh cut grass with continuing tartness and hops on the back end.

Lighter medium body, decent carbonation, dry and lively on the tongue. Tasty, hoppy and tart flavors really got the job done for me on this one - I'm curious to see what's next in this series.

Poured into TH stem glass. Rich three fingers of bubbly white head, tight bubbles, nice lacing on glass. Body is hazy, but a bright straw yellow color. Overall, good appearance.

The aroma is soft, but what is there is amazing. Mouthwatering juicy aromas of pears, peaches and cream, subtle hints of yogurt, vanilla, and more prominently, unripe mango. Fantastic.

The taste strikes a noticeably different chord, producing a dry, champagne-like fruitiness that carries through a grassy, Saison profile. I'm surprised this would be listed as an APA. Not quite to that style, and tastes more like their saisons might. Light flavors, not sweet at all, though has some "green" fruit characteristics.

Body is light, carbonation is mild and the finish is dry. Quite a smooth drinking experience, though probably more to do with the fact that its served from a growler.

Very happy to have a growler of this. Was a really good beer that I would drink a lot of. I polished off a growler solo, and I'm still coherent enough to write this review. I don't think they're making this again, but seriously worth it to try this.

Presentation: 64 oz. growler poured into a pint glass. Filled on 3/3/2013 and chilled since then. Big thanks to Centennial on getting me this gem.

Appearance: Clear light yellow in color. Not that cloudy at all. Pours a really nice light fluffy white head with good retention. Leaves a great lacing throughout.

Aroma: A pretty big fresh burst of brett upfront with some lemon zest and tart green apple. Really musty and with some great complex yeast tones.

Taste: Crisp lemon character upfront with a really aggressive and nice formed brett character. Lots of musty, barnyard tones. A touch of floral hop character as well. Really drinkable and crisp throughout. Not overly tart, but there certainly is a touch of sour in there.

Mouthfeel: Really crisp and sharply carbonated. Light bodied and refreshing.

Overall, a really tasty, drinkable funky pale ale. Almost fits more into the saison category than the pale ale category. The wild yeast is really well done and complex. Another impressive and unique beer from Tired Hands.

4oz taster pour
Enjoyed 2/28/13

A: Hazy pale yellow, straw-like color. Full finger fluffy bright white head. Leaves some nice sticky lacing. Pretty looking beer.

S: Nice hint of Brett when you get in there. Some bright citrus: lemons and light orange. Nice floral notes from the hops as well. Some graininess. It's really pleasant.

T: Getting that nice Brett funk. Some citrus like hop bitterness on the palate. Taste follows the nose, as I like the lemony flavors that I am getting on this. Malt bill is really light, and grainy. Crisp clean finish.

M: Light leading to medium.

On draft at Tired Hands.

The beer is lightly hazy and straw colored with a bit of white head. The aroma carries citrus, hay, grass, light funk, orange zest, lemon rind, hops. Smells nice. The flavor is light and smooth sailing. The brett character is there but adds a touch of funk, not dominating the other aspects of the beer. Refreshing citrus, lightly tart. Lemons and oranges with a bit of floral hops. A tasty brew for sure.
