On tap at Tired Hands on 12/18/12.
Pour: Completely clear golden orange, with a nice finger and a half of white fluffy head. Head recedes rather quickly, and doesn't leave much lacing.
Smell: Grapefruits and grass up front. Some caramel sweetness comes through and takes over from them. A little bit of booze.
Taste: Follows the nose, but the hops feel significantly faded. Grapefruit and some floral bitterness. A LOT of pine... too much even for me. Pretty substantial caramel malt backbone provides sweetness, and almost overbalances.
Mouthfeel: This was nice. Great carb and no trace of the nearly 10%. Very drinkable.
Overall: Pretty disappointed here. Just felt a little old, and the pine astringency was too much. I thought this was only like two and half weeks old, but it tasted like it was fading quick.

Poured into a Tired Hands stemmed glass. Half finger worth of soapy peach colored head on top of a hazy burnt yellow body. Head recedes to a thick coating of soapy white bubbles. Good lacing throughout.
Smell is wonderful and complex as hell. Notes of kiwi, strawberry (strawberry shortcake), bruised mango, and cat pee. Very hoppy aroma, with some subtle yet pleasant aromas. A harsher, alcoholic aroma takes over a bit in the back. Tropical fruits abound in this beer!
Taste is awesome! Very well balanced, with a fine amount of sweet malts in the forefront (honey and freshly baked bread come to mind) and a balancing hoppiness from the Amarillo and Galaxy hops. Honeydew melon, kumquats and other exotic fruits have some presence here.
Carbonation is spot on and works well with this full-bodied beer.
This is a fantastic DIPA! Seriously one of the best! It needs better head retention, but aside from that, it would be hard to beat! Just a great balance, great aroma, juicy and well rounded beer. I consider myself lucky to have been able to drink a growler of this!

Phenomenal beer, truly one of the greats. I'm always on the lookout for new and great IPAs and this is definitely a brewery to watch for hoppy beers. Definitely a repeat. A growler from yourefragile, thanks! Growler is 4 days old.
Beer served in a HIll Farmstead stemmed glass. Beer is amber and clear (mostly) with a nice white head, decent retention, nice lacing, moderate to low carbonation, looks good.
Aroma is fruity, nice, bitter, resinous, great.
Beer is medium in body, a little malty on the front but hops win HOPS WIN! Great bitterness, great fruity hop flavor, resin coats the mouth. A great IPA and I would have this again, especially from the source.

growler poured into taster - thanks brad
Golden orange color with a light haze. Bubbled head leaves splotchy lacing along the glass with a mild filmy retention.
Piny, citric hop bitterness aroma. Aggressive with some warming alcohol and milder malt sweetness with caramel.
Bitter pine dankness on the tongue right up front. Residual sticky resin and touches of grapefruit peel and citrus juice. Malt backbone fights its way through with caramel and toasted bread. Finishes bitter and warm with a decent alcohol punch.
Medium body, decent carbonation, sticky and long-lasting on the tongue. Another nice hoppy (D)IPA from Tired Hands, although it wasn't one of my favorites (since they've made so many different ones already).

Screw-top growler received via Growling at the Moon. Thanks for the brew, Dan!
First stein pours with a 1/9" off-white head over the slightly cloudy golden brew. Head skims promptly, with sticky lace. Aroma is tangerine citrus.
Taste starts moderately sweet, oranges in the middle quickly give way to piney bitterness through the close. Fruity bitterness lingers. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is good. I have a feeling this brew could easily sneak up on me.

Another beer from a friend - wish all my trades/shipments could be like this. Thanks Pnell316!
I was not a huge fan of this at first, but thanks to it being a growler drank on two separate occasions, it really grew on me. Amber in color - my friends say it looks like mellow yellow, but I would say it is more orange than anything and not quite mellow yellow. There is a small amount of white head that falls quick but overall it does leave a bit of lacing. On the aroma, the hops are harsh, but really quite good. Strong pine, orange, and a little grapefruit. When you taste it, the first thing that comes is the harsh hops, then some orange rind and a little alcohol burn. The mouthfeel starts off weak but fills out a little. Carbonation is lacking.
Overall it really is very good. A little harsh for me, but still very drinkable and delicious. I would recommend it to those that enjoy an IPA on the opposite end of the spectrum from Pliny.
