You go here for the beer selection....The beer list is a novel-length with beers that even the most knowledgeable BA poster has never heard of. As the tagiline on the radio spot states, "if you can't find it here, you probably don't want to drink it."
That being said, I was not too much of a fan of the place itself. You would think a place with this many options to offer a beer drinker would be mecca. But not really. Service was decent at best and the atmosphere was kinda pretentious.
Whenever I bring friends into A2, I bring em here for the stupidly long beer list. And then we head out to a neighborhood bar like Frasers or one of the ABC brewpubs to drink.

I was visiting the U of M and Ashley's was recommended. Walking through the fairly unassuming exterior and entry hall, first sight is am old-fashioned, wood and brass bar on the right, a jukebox, stage center, and the entree to the restaurant to the left. My first impression was that it was a bit of a dive, but soon realized that this is a bit of an affection. The bar has 72 working taps and, with it canned and bottled beer, serves well over 100 varieties, to a large extent, but not exclusively, from Michigan breweries. It also has a full range of wines and liquors/mixed drinks. The table service was very solicitous. The waitress gave us as much time as we needed to digest the enormous number of choices. The food was also quite good. So good, that faculty from U of M were conducting an early evening professional meeting there. And I suspect they would know where to eat. This place is a gem.

Great beer selection. Tons of options of all styles and from some really cool breweries. You're sure to find something familiar or new depending on your mood. It is a little loud and always packed, but it's worth swinging by.

Ashley's is a classic in the area. Always has many great offerings on tap. Food is good, friendly helpful staff and a really great atmosphere to have a beer or two and relax. There may be newer dogs moving into town but Ashley's in an Ann Arbor mainstay. Don't count them out!

Great spot for the craft beer junkie, only knock from my perspective is location - basically center of UM campus makes getting around, parking, and overall crowd in the bar a little too cramped for me. Have had great service on every occasion, the taplist is usually ridiculous, and the food variety is extensive and tasty. Must stop place if in the area.

Love Ashley's, my first pub. This is the place where I was first introduced to Bell's Oberon, which opened the doors to there being something other than BMC for me. Huge draft and bottle selection, with lots of Belgians. If you just have a hour on campus and want beer, stop here.
