I went to Ashley's before a Michigan game. I read that they had 70 beers on tap and that was good enough for me to check it out. I expected a bigger place. It was average sized, but I did see that there was also a bar downstairs that was not being used in the early afternoon. I loved the beer selection. As I mentioned, they have 70 taps, and they also have 90 bottle selections. There is a beer menu with descriptions of the beers that are permanently in stock. They also have rotating taps, so they keep a nice variety of seasonals.
I started with a flight of rotating taps (Short's Key Lime Pie, DFH Funkin Punkin, Pumking, and a chocolate porter). Then I had to sign up for the Ultimate Beer Tour. This will keep me coming back for each trip to Ann Arbor.
I had a buger that was good. The service was a bit slow, but I didn't die of thirst. This is a must see attraction in the Ann Arbor beer scene.

We love Ashley's in Ann Arbor. Tremendous selection and great value. Order the cheese plate with a flight and you'll be in heaven. Especially now they have the Chimay cheese on the plate.
I prefer bottled beer to draft and they have a good bottle selection too - of course not as good as the draft selection. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
Sit at the bar and you'll be able to strike up a conversation with other beer geeks.

When I visited: March 2012.
What I had: Bell’s Third Coast Beer (draught), Founders All Day IPA (draught), Bay Chowder, Yardbird Sandwich, some of my friend’s Flander’s Red Ale.
What I liked: Massive tap list with excellent representation of Michigan crafters, tasty pub grub, ample seating, fun and approachable atmosphere, great location in the heart of downtown.
What I disliked: Mediocre and somewhat neglectful service, getting the stare down from a group of locals because we took their regular seats, bottles and draughts are extensive but I had tried almost everything on the menu (very few rarities).
Would I go back? Yes.

I stayed in Ann Arbor for business last week and looked up where to go on here. Ashleys poped up with great ratings, so I checked out thier website. Well Holy Shit!!!! It just so happened that the night I was staying there, Ashley's was holding a Founders event with KBS, CBS, Better Half, Nemesis, + other killer Founders beers along with the other awesome taps!
The service was unreal! I sat at the bar and was served the rare beers as soon as they were available. The price was great and I talked to a lot of cool people during the night.
I didn't try the food, but it looked good.
What a great place with a great beer selection!

Ashley's. I must have celebrated all of my going away festivities at this place. I was not so much of a beer fan before Ashley's but between the wide selection of local Michigan brews, great folks to chit chat with, and helpful bartenders, now I am a huge beer fan!
I even had the bright ideal of signing up on their "beer tour" where you get some quirks for every 5, 10, 20, eventually 100 beers you drink.
Great beer selection of all the best local knowns and unknowns: Bell's & Founders never dissapointed. Their serving sizes were pretty generous. Beer menu broke down all of their beer styles on tap and bottles.
Watch out for Trivia nights mid-week from 7PM to 9PM, the tables and bars max out and it might be a 5min to an hr wait. During weekends the bottom bar opens up with some pretty good deals. It's right on U of Michigan's campus so you get a mostly older college crowd and can hear many laments from lots of graduate students over some great tasting beer. Definitely will miss Ashley's and will look forward to going back whenever I get the chance to.

There is no better selection of beer in Ann Arbor. From Dogfish 120 and Dogfish World Wide to Trappiste Rochefort 10 and Double Crooked Tree, this place has it all. Recently tried beers from a brewery I had not heard of--Oddside Ales--and they were excellent.
The food is decent, but nothing to rave about. Pizza and burgers are good. I would go for the Lineman Burger if you like big sloppy ones.
They have a beer tour, where you are rewarded for trying a certain number of beers. Highly recommended for the beer buff (as well as the scotch/whiskey buff). Need to get there early, as it fills up quick once grad students head out of their office around 4:30 or 5 pm. Certainly the place to be for beer snobs.

Ashley's is awesome. I make it a point to go there every time I visit Ann Arbor. The atmosphere is great. Both inside and outside, it has sort of an old-fashioned feel to it - something that I'm a fan of. They also have a ton of different old beer bottles on a mantle that encircles the whole place. During peak hours and days, it does get very busy, loud, and you'll probably have to wait. This should be expected in a college town like AA. The only downside to this is that the waiting area is very small, and if there's too many people, you might have to wait outside - not very comfortable during the winter. However, any wait that you have to endure will be worth your while. The selection of beers is excellent, including many rotating beers on tap. There's also this cool perk-program that they have called "Beer Tour." Essentially, you gain different things (anything from a free appetizer to a sweatshirt to your name on a plaque) for trying different beers.
If you're ever in the Ann Arbor area, I would highly recommend paying Ashley's a visit.

Arrived at Ashley's shortly after the Jolly Pumpkin La Roja GR release. First time visit, and I was very pleased. The draft list is displayed by a chalk board on the wall, and appeared to be keep up to date.
They had some really nice draft selections, things that you won't find elsewhere, such as Short's Sour Puss, and La Parcela on cask. A real treat both of those were. The place is rather small, and kind of has a college bar feel to it. A few TV's, and a really nice whisk(e)y selection.
Server was cordial, and seemed interested enough in the beer she was serving. Somewhat knowledgeable. I will revisit whenever in the A2 area. Great little spot.

I really enjoy Ashely's. It's my go to beer bar in Ann Arbor, when I'm not hitting up the breweries. They have a very good selection but the service isn't all that quick. The servers are nice and have a working knowledge of beer (not stellar in my experience), but the place is too small for the demand on weekends.
Overall, this is the place I'd recommend to go if you want the best selection in town. Just be prepared to wait for a table or the bar if you come at peak hours. If you want to try the local Ann Arbor brews, walk a couple streets over to the brewpubs.
