Edit: Just found my notes taken that day here in their unedited form:
10 15 09 visit. Referred here by Jolly Pumpkin Ann Arbor waiter who said that it was 4 blocks away. It was more like about 7 blocks but it was a welcomed walk none the less. On State Street, opposite commons of University of Michigan, nice bustling location, lots of foot traffic. Great amount of taps. Delirium Tremens, Aventinus, Arrogant Bastard, lots of local Michigan beers, Rogue and that is all on tap....did not even see their bottles.
Atmosphere: Smokey but wonderfully cluttered with beer bottles, signage, hard wood furniture, crusty bar, friendly, attentive people on a Thursday afternoon pretty much on the campus of U of M.
College atmosphere with band signage, bulletin board for lessons of various sorts.
Based on a visit there 10 15 09. Review from limited notes, mainly memory.
Atmosphere This is certainly a college bar with a better selection of beer than any college bar that I have ever been in. Notifications of apartments, happenings on campus at University of Michigan (the place is across from a huge commons area of campus) and other services are on a cork board as you enter and there are paraphernalia from all manner of breweries, bottles also from hundreds, if not a thousand, breweries as well. I really like the atmosphere but I like the selection of taps probably more. 4.5
Quality Good with proper glassware and a beer advocacy that you do not often find in a place so close to a major campus. 4.0
Service Good. Several people, including someone who turned out later to be a patron, offered the beer list which is a small book. 4.0
Selection The best part of the place. As stated, I have never been to what is essentially a college bar with such an incredible selection. Two rows of craft, imported taps including Aventinus, Delerium Tremens, a lot of local Michigan beers and even Great Lakes Brewing Company (sort of my hometown brewery) were represented. Really, really good. 4.5
Food Did not order any food.

With 70 taps and 50+ bottles, there aren't many people who won't find something new to drink here. Coming in through a pretty nondescript entrance from the street, the place has a pretty rustic vibe. It's mostly brick and wood, not polished but adding to the rustic vibe. It's the kind of place that has a mixed clientele, but the words carved into the table definitely says some college students go there pretty frequently. TVs are around but silent and out of the way, so to speak. There's a nice stained glass window splitting two areas. Service is good, quick and very helpful, and they know as much as any bar I've been to and more than most in Toledo. The tap list is huge, of course, and it's all craft. There's an impressive drink repertoire all around, including dozens of whiskeys and the like, and there's even an absinthe on the menu. One of my favorite things about the place besides the huge selection of great beer is that there are nitro taps at all times and always two beers on the beer engine. Ashley's is the kind of place I can't imagine thriving in Toledo but I wish was here somehow. Prices are really reasonable, so it's affordable to drink good stuff. I'll save the 5s for places with 100+ (very rare), but this place is close.

My absolute favorite place to have a beer. The atmosphere actually inspired the way I finished my basement. They've got the largest beer menu I've ever seen with dozens on tap and a few on cask. The service has always been great, and the waiters always know at least as much about beer as I do and can make a good recommendation of something I haven't had before.
The selection is nearly perfect, but they recently started focusing more on Michigan beers, which isn't entirely a bad thing, but I really enjoyed having Dogfish Head 90 and 120 on draft.
The food is definitely above average for a pub, my favorite is their specialty fries, particularly the pesto fries, but my friends love the stilton fries.
The beer is by no means cheap, but it isn't inflated either. I'm never "sticker shocked" when I get the bill.
Again, my favorite place to have a beer. It's not even close.

Ashley's is probably my favorite bar in the country. Perfect atmosphere to come hang out, grab a good beer with friends, have some good conversation, and have over 70 taps of great beer from across the country to choose from. The late night bar menu is good for snacking and even has some interesting stuff like chicken curry fries. I've spent countless nights here with friends and it's still great every time I come back.

This place is the beer Mecca of southeastern Michigan. If you are fortunate enough to get a server or bartender that know their beer it will be a great time! I love stopping in for a beer or two every time I'm in AA. Lucky for me, my wife enjoys this place as much as I do!

Atmosphere: nothing special, loud music, no dancing some tvs. not a college bar but nothing that makes it special or stand out.
Quality: They usually have a few gems on the rotating tap board but the regular menu can be bought at most bottle shops for much less
Service: sometimes its good sometimes it bad. no different from any other place
Selection: I generally will only go for tap takeovers now. They have some very good events at a good frequency that just can't be found elsewhere
Food: average bar food with some pretty disappointing items for a high price
Overall: I have very mixed feelings about Ashley's. Their regular beer menu is not hard to find and very overpriced, the rotating tend to have a few rarer beers for a high price, but they have very good and frequent tap events.
