What?
Inspired by the malty and hoppy beers of the Great Northwest, Green Man Ale is a rich and layered beer that lies somewhere between an IPA and a Red Ale—not exactly radical, but not quite the conformist, Green Man Ale just is.

Why?
An Eclectic blend of malts and plenty of northwest hops have come together, not worrying about fitting in, and simply being content in walking their own path of malty hoppiness (always need a good hop pun). Green Man is excellent when paired with wild salmon or as an inspirational elixir during your favorite pagan ceremony.

Served in a Willi Becher pint glass at the brewery. Pours a deep red with a 1 inch head that lasts for the duration. Wonderful hop character along with a nice malt mellowness at the finish. A perfect blend of IPA and Red Ale.Another in a long line of fine brews from Wits End.

Pours a hazy dark copper with an off white head. Aroma is quite hoppy with some citrus and its rind, floral, pine on top of a caramel and bready malt foundation. Flavor followed suit. Really enjoyed the balance to it. Mouthfeel was heavy and dense, medium bodied with some activity. Overall, an amber or a pale ale or whatever I liked this one a good deal. Not a session ale by abv, but this beer is definitely dangerously sessionable. Would have gone home with a growler of this if they had allowed me to.

On tap at bicycle cafe in Denver. The beer arrives in a standard pint glass. The sign calls it at a Pale Ale though this looks more amber/red in color. Edges are a brilliant red in the light. Nice 1 finger white head, good retention and lacing. A nice mellow yet enjoyable hoppy nose with citrus character and a hint of the base malt. The taste follows suit. It seems to be a blend of west coast hops with an English IPA base, if that makes sense. Starts hoppy and then is immediately malty in character. Hops provide a more earthen pine character that detected in the nose. Caramal malt flavor is most dominant. Finishes clean and crisp. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Overall, a brewery I had been wanting to try for a couple months now and jumped at a chance to drink what the server referred to as their "main beer". It was good, well balanced, and enjoyable. I would drink again and look forward to more offerings from Wit's End. :)

This is Scott's (the brewer/owner) homage to the beers of the pacific northwest. Not really an APA or IPA and not really an amber, but a little of both rolled into one.
Green Man is an amber/brown with reddish highlights. Head is plentiful and never fades out or dies down.
The flavor profile walks an even line between hoppy and malty. The idea is almost English, but it's definitely more potent and the hops are more resinous. Caramel and nutty malts go back and forth with piney west coast hops. Just when you think you have an APA in your hand, the malts kick in. When you think it's malty, those hops take over. It's a great mix of hoppy and malty with just the right amount of sweetness to keep everything working together.
I can (and do) drink a lot of this one and I think it's as good as anything like this I've had.
An outstanding beer that anyone would be proud to serve, let alone Denver's smallest brewery. This one has flagship written all over it, although their other beers (like the more well-known Blonde) are all quite good.
