Appearance: pours an orange gold, with a nice fluffy but dense white head. No lacing.
Smell: of sweet malt. The wheat is readily present with a nice fruity hop aroma as well, some spice present.
Taste: nice, delicious melding of flavors! The barley and wheat malts blend together in the fore, with the hops in the background for good balance. The chardonnay barrels add a delicious light fruitiness. There are also nice vanilla notes, as well as some oak and spice.
Mouth Feel: medium to light bodied, with just a tingle of carbonation on the tongue.
Overall: an excellent ale! I have a general weakness for ales brewed with wheat, and the aging of the beer in chardonnay barrels makes it simply delectable!

S - Buttery oak, floral, spices.
T - Wood, funk, buttery, floral, sweet slight citrus, yum.
D - Good carbonation with a light body.
O - Very nice farmhouse, the spices and floral notes merge nicely with a buttery oak.

From a 750 ml (brewed summer 2012) into a globe glass.
A-The brew poured with one finger of dense, off-white head. The foam was slow to fade, but did not leave any lacing. Beneath the foam, it was mostly clear and amber colored.
S-Smell was mildly tart with lemon and orange zest up front, a touch of hops, some bread-like yeasty notes, and a bit of funky wet earth. Inviting.
T-The taste was not as complex or interesting as the smell. There was a bit of lemon curd, some slick alcohol, a lot more bread dough, and just a hint of straw and white pepper towards the end. Not as much oak/barrel character as I was hoping for.
M-The brew is medium bodied with a smooth carbonation and a slightly creamy feel. Pretty much typical for the style.
O-I usually enjoy chardonnay barrel aged brews, but this one was a touch weak. The smell got my hopes up, but the flavor was a bit of a let-down. It was missing that sharp, oaky, vinous barrel component that I enjoy. That being said, I have tasted worse beers, and this would not make for a bad summertime brew, but it was spendy and did not carry my interest for very long.

Bottle # 00211. Bottled Summer 2012.
Pours a hazy orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, fruit/grapes, and wood. Taste is much the same with a mild spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it smells better than it tastes in my opinion.

Beer pours a wonderful amber color with haze and a nice white head that is readily swirled back into place.
Aroma is dominated by wine, probably from the barrel. Very pleasant with notes of pineapple and light tropical fruits. Earthy tones also accompany the fruit.
The taste fruity, vinous, some caramel, hops eathiness predominates the palate.
Smooth mouthfeel. Full bodied.
Very enjoyable beer. Wine really goes well with the funk of the yeast. Not sour but still a crisp finish. I would certainly recommend this beer to a friend.

Pours a dark honey/copper with a white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity some pear and grae with even a little honey too it. Flavor was also sweet and fruity, with some honey, some pear, grape, and the wine barrel. A fuller, soft & velvety mouthfeel with some activity. Overall, Elevation has really impressed with the 2 beers of their I have tried. I really enjoyed this take on a saison, a lot more to it than I expected from it going in. Always nice to be surprised like that.

my second brew from elevation. pours a darker than expected cloudy strawbeery blond color, more brown in there than red i guess, but its close. its got a couple inches of bubbly white head on top, and smells intensely of white wine. its grapey and a little sweet, with some more interesting sugars behind it. molasses is present, and with the belgian yeast make a pretty unique aromatic profile. the flavor is a little less heavy on the wine than the nose, but the woody element comes in for the acidic element in the smell. the sweetness is there too, but not too sugary. maybe honey more than molasses now. the yeast provides some mild spice and some very bright carbonation. this is a drinkable beer at 7.5% abv, and a fun take on a saison. i liked this quite a bit.
edit: just had this on tap for the first time and its way different. less wine heavy but way way way more oaky. in fact oak seemed to be the dominant flavor, even over the yeast. i loved it, so take advantage if you see it. i had mine at kaos pizza on pearl street in Denver. go get it.

Thanks, quirkzoo!
A murky, hazy dark blonde or light orange with a moderately-sized off-white head. Decent retention and minimal lacing.
The chardonnay is more than present in the nose. If given this blind, I'd immediately say, "Chardonnay" or, more simply, "White wine." The grape and barrel influence is dominant, though when concentrating, there are other sweet elements at play as well: toffee and mild Belgian yeast presence.
The flavor is similar to the aroma, with white wine and barrel character leading the way, along with some graham cracker and toffee sweetness, and a very mild Belgian yeast character.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy for the style. Nice.
An interesting and fairly drinkable white wine barrel-aged saison, though the sweetness hurts it somewhat. I'd prefer it to be more dry.
