Pours a dark brown, almost black in color. The khaki colored head is a good inch in length and has a sturdy retention. Aroma of smoked malt and a bit of dark coffee. In the flavor, roasted malts and a lighter malt balance. Mild leafy hops are almost lost behind a wall of deeply roasted malt flavor. The bitterness is complimentary and the beer finishes even, if not a bit malty. The brew itself is light to medium bodied and smooth. Overall , a nice dark beer that I could definitely come back to. Worth the look. Closer to a simple porter, or dry stout, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Growler from Brewery: This one pours an opaque, extremely dark ruby-tinged brown almost black color. There was a dense inch of tan foam on it that doesn’t linger too long. It leaves some lacing. Lighter but nice nose. Mainly roasted coffee notes. Some chocolate and spicy hop notes. The body is somewhat lighter. Nice, somewhat lighter taste. Some coffee and chocolate notes. Some spicy bitterness to it, but not overly so. A really good easy drinking beer!
