Great name and creative label for this one.

Bright clarity, saturated orange color with a compact head of white foam, splashy bits of lace that stick to the walls of the glass.

Some phenolic Belgian yeast, light bubblegum and clove, accented by southern hemisphere hop varieties.

Creamy feel with some citrus peel, malt and tangerine sweetness, pink grapefruit and more Belgian yeast presence. Medium bodied with some sweetness that lingers, into a lightly dry bitterness in the aftertaste. As far as Belgian IPA's go, Glaucus is a favorite of mine, but this one is good too.

(Served in a tulip)
Batch 114
A- This beer pours a dark apricot body with a touch of haze and a touch of density to it. There s a bubbly thin wispy head with a few strands of microbubbles trailing up the glass.

S- The full fruit cocktail hops grows as it opens and takes on more of a green hop/unripe fruit aroma.

T- The green woody hops taste turns into fruit cocktail with a green earthy hop finish. There is a touch of sweetness in the malt but the finish is dry and has a nice peppery phenol to it. There is a gentle bittern pungent hop flavor in the aftertaste that compliments the sweetness nicely.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a gentle fizz finish with a soft alcohol warmth.

O- This beer has a nice full hop flavor with good depth and a nice yeast character that is underneath. The sweetness is a nice balance to the bitterness of the hops aftertaste but the bitterness keeps growing and the sweetness doesn’t.

Bottle picked up at Capone's by Alison! Thanks a bunch. Served in a New Belgium tulip.

A - Generous white foam settles to a thick collar, leaving behind splotchy lacework. Hazed dark orange-amber body. The darkness tinge reveals this is a double version of a Belgian IPA, and on the whole it's quite attractive.

S - Very sweet, with loads of banana, caramel and honey malts, mild tropical fruits, and only light phenolic yeast notes. Reminds me more of an American-made tripel, but with some aggressive hopping.

T - The flavor is an improvement, with a nice mix of tropical fruits, estery yeast, juicy citrus, sugary malts, and a mild amount of zesty bitterness in the finish. More balance, and less cloying here.

M - Medium body, with a smooth, chewy texture. Pleasant carbonation, with a nice dry finish. Pipeworks does a pretty good job with bottle conditioning.

D - Too sweet for my tests and I much preferred Glaucus I had immediately afterward. I wanted a bit more Belgian yeast character and a bit less saccharine malt. Otherwise, I suppose this was 'to-style' (Belgian IPA is a strange catch-all to begin with) and was drinkable on the whole - just not what I was really seeking.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Every time I hear the word "reliquary" I think back to "Anastasia". I know, I'm upset with myself... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass-amber topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises rich caramel, leek, light pine resin, and a hint of sourdough. The taste brings in more of the same, with a slightly decreased leek character, a light touch of mint, and a light toasting for the bread. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, an okay BIPA, but one whose hops just didn't meld quite right, and one whose Belgian yeast comes across nearly expressionless.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle marked as Batch #77 into a Pipeworks Brewing Company branded snifter

Pours a fairly deep, darker amber capped by a snowy white two finger head. Above average retention and significant splotchy lacing. Bold citrusy nose--pineapple, passion fruit, kiwi, with just a hint of tripel yeast. Pineapple, very prevalent honey notes, passion fruit, pomegranate, Juicy Fruit bubblegum. and a touch of clean sweet malt. Finishes semi-dry with initial fairly intense bitter notes, most likely the contribution of Galaxy hops, that slowly relents to some more honey-tinged sweet malt. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth and satisfying. Overall, a very enjoyable brew. I would have liked the Belgian yeast to be a bit more distinguishable, however it seemed to overpowered by the intense hop presence. Tasty, nonetheless.
