North & Western, oh yeah that corner... not much to immortalize, that's the joke I guess, aside from the brewery being nearby.
Bright golden orange at first that hazes up a bit on the second pour, leaving the yeast sediment behind. Drippy lacing in the glass, lasting coverage on the surface. Looks pretty nice.
Big citrus aromatics, orange and banana creamsicle, big yeast esters, green botanicals.
Bitter pine and resiny hop slickness augments the dominant citrus and estery yeast spiciness, creamy body, dry bitter finish. Some lemon peel and citrus oils, some honeyed malts come through after the grassy hop bitterness subsides. Overall very enjoyable, reminds me of some of Haymarket's Belgian IPA/Saisons.

I had to try this beer since I've lived down the street from these dudes for 3 years! I watched these guys transform the desolate building on Wabansia and Western into what is one of the top up in coming breweries in the U.S.
North & Western pours a murky golden straw like color with a thick white mountainous two finger head. Lots of carbonation bubbles and a big lace trail along the glass.
The aroma is of citrus, wheat, and hops
Not too sweet but has a nice citrus taste to it with a big hoppy/ wheat taste. Also has a bit of a fruity taste as well.
It's a medium bodied mouthfeel with a descent amount of carbonation to it. The finish has a spicy bite to it and a slight lingering bitterness.
All in all it's a pretty good beer! Nice to have while relaxing on the couch on a frigid mid April day in Chicago!

Appearance: Traditional golden color with a slight orange tint. Light fluffy head that was a major player throughout. Above average carbonation.
Smell: Banana, mango, nuts, wild yeast, light citrus, and some orange peel.
Taste: Light, refreshing, very drinkable. Hop bitterness on the front of the brew which is followed by a crisp blast of citrus. The yeasty body gives this brew some depth. 7% abv is very well hidden.
Mouthfeel: Very drinkable but at the same time has a very solid body. Hop dryness is at a minimal on the palette. Texture is very pleasant and kept me coming back for more.
Overall: Another really excellent brew from pipeworks. Worth a shot for sure.

22oz, Batch 82
White wine glass
A: Hazy, golden yellow orange color. Didn't get a lot of head. Thin layer of white head that formed a collar on glass. Still looks like good carbonation. Leaving some sticky white lacing.
S: Not getting as much spice as I thought for this style. Nice hop character: citrus and light pine. Getting that light malt base.
T: Little bit of spice up front that I didn't originally smell. Good hop bitterness. Citrus for sure. Lemon rind. Orange. The back end has lingering bitterness past the dry Saison finish.
M: Light medium. There is some body there.

Poured into a Pipeworks snifter from bomber - batch 46
A - One of the creamiest this lustrous heads I've ever poured, lots of residual lacing. Hazy pale yellow in color.
S - yeast and bananas with some fruit, dark fruits as the beer warms.
T - Citrus, spices, banana, yeast, and hop bitterness
M - medium bodied, lightly carbonated
O - a really fine offering, plenty of complexity in flavor, not a style I purchase typically, but this was enjoyable enough that I would recommend it to anyone whether they enjoy saisons or not.

Bottle from jdhende, 650ml into a tulip. Batch 46.
Hazy orange, with a huge white head. Big chunks of lace, wall of retention along the side of the glass. Nose of lemons, line, pepper and saison yeast. Drying and zesty. Taste has lemongrass, herbal hopping, more citrus zest and some chalky yeast character. Medium body, herbal bitterness and grainy character well into the finish.

Picked this up at West Lakeview Liquors. Served in a taster pint.
A - Giant white foam settles to a thick collar and splotchy lace. Lightly hazed pale golden body. Very attractive stuff.
S - Citrus and herbs; seems like a mix of American and continental hops? Grain, sharp wheat, peppery yeast, although some of the spice might be from the hops as well.
T - The taste has more of a lemony note, with lightly peppery farmhouse yeast. Orange citrus hops, and some pear and stone fruit malt sweetness come out more as the beer warms up. Hop bitterness grows over time, but never gets excessive, and there's no obvious alcohol.
M - Zesty carbonation, dry and mildly gritty texture, medium body, and no alcohol warmth.
D - An easy to drink, hoppy Saison. Nothing crazy, but well done, with a nice integration of hop and yeast flavors. Could definitely have a glass or two of this one.

(Served in a tulip glass)
Batch # 46
A- This beer pours a thick creamy off-white head which is supported by a clear deep copper body and a strong carbonation of tiny bubbles popping to the surface.
S- The full fruit cocktail hops fade into a pine hop resin aroma in the finish. Hints of saison yeast come through only when the beer is really warm.
T- The soft yeasty flavor gives way to some unripe fruit cocktail hops flavors that grow. There is a nice white cheese rind note that lingers a bit in the finish along with the hop flavor. Some soft chalky notes come through as the beer opens up a bit aswell.
M- The spicy fizz scrubs the flavor in the finish and there is no alcohol heat noticed.
O- This nice saison yeast character supports the tasty fruit cocktail hops and the scrubbing fizz makes this very drinkable.

Poured from bottle into a tulip. Pours a hazy dark orange/gold color with a nice foamy head.
Nice aromas, but somewhat muted, of spices, citrus, florals and oranges. Nice depth as well.
Extremely good medium feel that finishes nice and dry. Balanced with very good flavors of spices, citrus and floral notes.
While it wasn't as great in the aromas, it more than made up for it on the feel. A really good saison and very enjoyable.
