poured from bottle into a tulip, Pours a hazy gold color with a very foamy head.

Really good and complex aromas of spices, florals, pears, and mangoes. Very nice depth to it, though I think that the smell isn't for everyone.

Medium bodied with a very good feel. It's a little lighter than I'd like with nice flavors of mangoes, pears, and spices.

An enjoyable saison. I would've liked a creamier feel personally. It's a little thinner, but the nice dry finish was very welcome.

a hazy orange pour with 2 fingers of fluffy bright white head. spotty lacing. smells of lemongrass, bell pepper, bread, very yeast-heavy scent. a very funky flavor.. starts off with a black pepper-like spice, which then has a weird bitterness to it, and a funky yeast creates almost a balogna like taste towards the finish. the peppercorn flavor is dominant but not off putting. a very nice saison. medium body with high carbonation, perfect to refresh yourself after a hot day.

not a bad saison, but i like the other variant i had of this a little better. the french yeast strain they used has a somewhat weird lingering flavor that i can't get too behind. not usre if they used the same yeast in the other one but it was not noticeable.

look: 3.25 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Overall pretty regular look. Thick head on the pour which dissipated quickly and was less then presence while drinking. Average carbonation throughout.

Smell: Nutty, with nice touches of buttered popcorn. Wild yeast and a very bready biscuit aroma.

Taste: The front is a very crisp yeast touch. The body is a bit thin but has a lot of complexity in the flavor. A very spicy finish is very prevalent. A dry malty, biscuit flavor left on the palette. Fresh taste, definitely bottled very recently. Very pleasant overall though.

Mouthfeel: Bubbly texture which is different but interesting.

Overall: A decent brew overall. A lot of good things going on. Seems to lack some of the very traditional accents of a farmhouse ale.

Served in a Duvel tulip glass.

My initial bottle of this was broken under semi-mysterious circumstances. Luckily, I was given a second chance... This stuff pours a clear gold topped by a finger or so of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises dry wheat, black pepper, clove, green pepper (the kind from a mill, not from a salad), banana peel, and a touch of vanilla way in the background. The taste brings in more of the same, with the pepper really coming on strong. This results in a bitter (in a peppery way) wave that washes over the tongue from early middle through to well beyond the finish. Malingering, to say the least. The body is a light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, an okay saison, one that had an interesting idea with the pepper and other spices, but, alas, only the former came through, and, when it did, it o'ershadowed pretty much all else.

Appearance: A yellow/orange pour with a nice 2 finger head of white foam which dissipates fairly quickly to a slight foam ring.

Smell: A distinctively pleasant aroma of peppers, spices and citrus notes abound in this along with a light yeasty aroma.

Taste: A brilliant combination of peppercorns, citrus, and other spices all come together in this Saison Style Ale to bring a uniquely satisfying flavor.

Mouthfeel: A mild to medium mouthfeel with a slight tingling on the tongue due to the peppercorns. Very slight touch of warmth, but no heavy alcohol feel on this one.

Overall: This is a pleasant Saison style Ale with a nice combination of ingredients making it pleasantly refreshing overall. Another great beverage for a relatively young brewing company.

Poured into a tulip glass, it appears a murky dark orange, slightly brownish. Very charged with lots of foam, have to pour slowly. Big head of foam, doesn't last too long though. Settles quickly to a ring around the edges.

Yeasty aroma with some earthy peppery spice.

Dry earthy flavors, hint of honeyed malt underneath in the aftertaste. Peppercorn is front and center, some minor herbal traces in there too. Fairly straightforward with the phenolic spice. Full bodied and well carbonated, froths up on the tongue and dries out pretty quick. Overall it's decent, though I prefer the regular iteration of Poivre Rose.
