Golden pilsner like color with notes of amber. When some yeast sediment makes it's way into the glass, the beer takes on a more cloudy, rusty color. Just an OK amount of head and foam for the style.

Yeasty fruit aromas mix with mildly toasted malts that offer a whiff of a bakery and barley field. Add to that a touch of alcohol for warmth :).

Faint toasted malt flavor, the spicy, fruity yeast seems to dominate the flavor profile. There's a warm abv. % -ness to the whole brew. This is well incorporated throughout the whole brew. Pretty well balanced and easy to sip considering the 10% abv.

Served in a Pipeworks Goblet, Batch 34

A - Gold with a slight haze, thick head initially but recedes quickly with minimal lacing.

S - Belgian Yeast, Floral, Banana, and sweet tropical fruit. Alcohol becomes noticeable after it warmed up.

T - Banana and other sweet tropical fruits, I'm not getting much lemon, pepper, or orange as others have suggested. Just a very mild hop bitterness on the finish. The alcohol is present as it warms, but does not dominate.

M - Medium bodied, medium carbonation, slightly sticky

O - Excellent beer with depth of flavors. I do not drink this style often but am enjoying this beer immensely, but I don't have a strong base for comparison. I will agree with a previous review about the label not representing the beer well. I was put off by it for a few months until I learned more about the beer. This label is also not typical for Pipeworks while most of their labels are quite a bit more artsy.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass...

A: Foggy honey blond...medium to heavy head with some lacing

S: Belgium yeast, sour fruit, tart

T: Smooth...great lingering grapefruit flavor

M: Medium bodied with good balance. Not too thick, not too thin....

Overall I was impressed with the beer from beginiing to end. I must say that this is the 1st pipeworks brew Ive tried but definietley not the last...job well done...

A - Golden orange color with a fluffy white head leaving layers of foam on the side of the glass as it settles.

S - Tropical fruits, banana, pineapple, spice, belgian yeast and citrus.

T - More spice in taste than aroma. Spice, clove, pepper, melon, citrus, honey, belgian yeast, light hop bitterness and a light of alcohol.

M - Medium body with good carbonation. Slight slick feel to it.

D - Fairly dry take on the style which is good in my opinion. Another tasty brew from Pipeworks.

Imperial Pilsner first comes to mind as this outrageously good brew washes through my mouth. Cash 4 Golden Ale is long on description, but it really seems to shake out as a nice - let me say very nice! - Belgian Pale Ale.

Very hop forward, yet smooth and elegant taste. Had the label been printed in French and said it had been brewed by Belgian Monks, I would believe it. Creamy head, lots of retention, and not a bit of a taste of alcohal. Yes, there are notes of pineapple and fruit, but they're notes, and not as forward as to be found in a FFF brew.

The mouthfeel left me with a moist, pleasently salivatious feeling with a lingering finish. Not a strong smell, but hops, pine, and some fruit are apparent.

if I were to make two constructive comments - and they're both of the tongue and cheek variety, then 1) the label is hardly as elegant as this brew, and 2) change the name to Saliver which is French for salivate.

In all seriousness, this beer is outstanding.

Thanks to Pmoney for this one.

App- A nice and creamy looking blending of colors. A good amount of yellows, intermixed with some orangey amber and a bit hazy looking as well, with some white speckled in. The head on this one was a good 2 fingers but didnt leave ample lacing or cling.

Smell- This had a great nose behind it. The blending of the hops and yeast did create a great creamy tropical fruit nose, like smelling a fruit salad as a kid minus that syrup flavor. The hops gave a little tinge of bitter to balance it.

Taste- This was a flavorful beer. The nose followed through on this one to give the taste its bang. The yeast gave it a Hefe like bubblegum, banana flavor but it was the balance of the hops and tropical fruit notes that really made this shine.

Mouth- A fairly medium and creamy body with a bit of rich sweetness and a tinge of bitter. The carbonation was a full medium as well and created a bit of thick feel on the tongue which brought out more tropical fruit notes.

Drink- This was a good beer. I've enjoyed all that I have had from Pipeworks so far. Glad to see another Chicago brewery doing well. Ill be back for more of their offerings.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Lost Abbey chalice.

A- pours a bright caramel with a 2 finger white head. Big zebra striping of lacing with small bubbles Rising to the surface.

S- banana, lemon, yeast, bread, spices, and some citrus notes.

T- potent Belgian yeast right out of the gate, with lemon, spices, some banana and moderate pine bitterness.

M- full body and high carbonation. Not sure if it's from the rye malt or what but has a huge creamy, thick feel. Big effervescence gives a slightly frothy characteristic.

O- nice Belgian. Big frothy mouthfeel, nice spice and citrus, along with 10% abv that is still very drinkable=nice beer.

A- This beer pours a hazy glowing orange body with an antique white head that fades to a thin sticky film after a bit.

S- The bright fruity esters have some fruit cocktail hop aromas to them. There is a plastic note that turns more yeasty and buttery as the beer opens but it is not offensive.

T- The yeasty pils malt flavor has a slight salt hint to it with some dry canned tropical fruit flavors that lead into herbal green pungent hops in the finish. There is a field corn hint in the finish and a touch of tartness with some grapefruit pith lingering.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a velvety texture and a spicy fizz note in the finish. There is no alcohol noticed unless I stand up.

O- This beer has nice complex flavor on the tongue with the dry pils malt and grapefruit pith flavor balance the fruity aroma and flavors in the hops.

A: Pours a semi hazy apricot color with a thick white head forming on the pour. As the head recedes to a thick ring it leaves nice sheets of sticky lace.

S: Big fruity esters and vibrant tropical fruit flesh. Some belgian yeast, slight spicy, but mostly restrained. Dry cracker malts sweetness. Some booze is noticeable as it warms, but it adds a nice layer.

T: Slighty spiced yeast with some bready flavor components as well. Light tart fruits, mild tropical fruit flesh no noticeable booze until it warms up.

M: Light bodied with a medium to high carbonation level and a sweet, drying finish.

O: The mouthfeel was great for the style and it went down easy. I killed the whole 750 ml and definitely felt it afterwards. Easily drinkable for 10%. I suggest sharing with friends.

Bottle shared by Jason. Served in a Hill Farmstead glass.

A - White foam settles to a thin cap and thicker collar, leaving a few specks of lace. Mostly transparent golden orange until you get to the bottom of the bottle.

S - Fruity malts, with banana, pineapple, and mango notes, and some Belgian yeast that isn't overly spicy or phenolic. Alcohol is pretty well-hidden, although this gets a tad fusel at room temperature.

T - The taste is fairly similar, but with a bit more spicy yeast and hop bitterness present. Some malted grains, with a hint of honey and caramel. Perhaps a hint of alcohol as it warms.

M - Medium bodied, with lower carbonation, mildly sticky finish, and not much alcohol warmth at all. Goes down really easy for the ABV.

D - A nice Belgian Golden that goes down really well for a 10% beer. I like that Pipeworks' Belgian yeast strain isn't overpowering and allows the malt and hop flavors to contribute as well. The 750ml reminds you that this isn't a beer for all occasions and would be best shared.

A: Clear darker yellow in color; not quite golden. Forms a moderate sized white head that great staying power. Leaves a good bit of lacing on the way down.

S: Aroma is very nice: light, yet still fragrant. Notes of banana, yeast, lemon, and orange rind. There is a slight hint of spice, but it is certainly less prevalent.

T: The taste on this one is where it is at. Mild sweetness on the front end with notes of banana, green apple, and lemon. Then it moves to a bit of orange rind as well with some tropical fruit notes. Dries out on the finish with a good dose of yeast-derived spice and a bit of black pepper.

M: Medium bodied with a slightly spicy mouthfeel. Good carbonation and a mild bitterness. You'd never know this is a 10% beer.

O: Got to say, this beer proved to be much better than I was expecting it to be, but then again, Belgians should be the place where Pipeworks is going to shine.

Popped the golden bottle cap (subtlety wasn't lost on me) and poured into a .4L tulip glass. Love the label, reminds me of Master P album covers and ubiquitous strip mall pawn shops dotting the forgotten corners of Chicago's landscape. The beer has a deep orange color that glows in the light, and a sturdy cap of creamy foam billows above the rim of the glass.

Big floral spices and Belgian yeast in the aroma, chamomile and ginger, some light citrus, definitely orange as it warms up. very dry and little sweetness to be found.

Lush, creamy feel, dried oranges, lightly peppery and only slightly bitter with some of the noble hops present in the background. Peach, cloves, pepper. Smooth and pleasantly dry aftertaste, with a welcomed light tartness in the middle (mentioned on the label, so no surprise there). The double digit abv is well hidden, only present vaguely at room temperature. They hit the style dead on here, it's very close to surpassing Moinette as my personal favorite.

Poured from a 750ml bottle and split into 2 Belgian style goblets.

A - It pours a hazy golden straw color with a generous 2 finger head.

S - It smells like fresh baked bread, mixed with some banana and citrus notes.

T - This was one of the tastiest Belgian golden ales I've had in a long time. The taste is similar to the nose. At first you get a bready Belgian yeast taste, followed by notes of banana, clove, lemon, and pepper that lingers for a while. After every sip I wanted more.

M - The mouth feel was very nice. It had very nice, big bubbles and good head retention, with lots of lacing.

O - This was a very enjoyable beer. At $10.99 for a full size 750ml bottle - I will definitely try to pick some more of this up.

Served in a Local Option cervoise.

Splitting this bottle with VDubb, part of the post-bachelor party haul he missed out on (just like everybody else present...pansies...with lives...). It pours a lightly hazy pale straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises bleached flour, light white bread, light lemon rind, light coriander, and a touch of banana essence. Things don't smell bad at all, but the aromas are incredibly weak and mild. The taste holds notes of banana (strong without becoming overpowering), bread, black pepper, light coriander, light lemon zest, light flowers, and a hint of melon. I actually like the interplay of sweet banana and bread without blending to be banana bread. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, a nice little Belgian blonde sort o' brew, nothing entirely outstanding, but something more than enjoyable.
