A welcome gem in the good beer desert that is Eire !
They brew 3 beers, Gold (lager), Red (red ale) and Black (stout) at the on site brewery round the back of the pub
All were sampled (see reviews) and all decent efforts!
As well as these tasty home brews, guinness was also on tap plus the ubiquitous bland lagers found throughout bars in Ireland
The pub is typical of those found in Eire, 3 rooms full of nic-nac's, pictures, pots, pans etc
The room up the stairs is less traditional and has a TV (for Sports only!)
Live music on weekend evenings seems a regular theme. In fact there is a large bench and table in the 2nd room to the right of the bar which has a permanent sign on it stating 'reserved for musicians'!
No food available but some special events (a cheese festival for instance) occur from time to time, nuts and crisps are of course sold behind the bar
Lisdoonvarna is at the north end of County Clare
We drove in a hire car (about 1 hour from Shannon airport)
Public transport wise - not on the railway but did see a bus heading to Galway (estimate 1 to 1 and a half hours away) whilst we were there
Well worth seeking out if in the west centre of Eire
