This is one of the worst beers I've ever had. Pours a light yellow--looks like a bright bud light cut with a little water. Thin bubbly head that immediately disappears. No lacing or retention. Smells like metal, artificial lemons, and straw. Tastes the same way. overcarbonated. This is very much in the style of an american adjunct but even worse than the usual examples.

Pours a clear yellow with a foamy light tan head settles to tiny wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is extremely skunky with some grainy aromas that take a back seat. As the beer warms the skunky aroma dissipates somewhat. Taste is quite watery with some grain and uncooked pasta flavors. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a poor beer that is pretty undrinkable.

1 pint 5.6 fl oz green glass bottle (please...) with standard pressure cap served into a conical Guinness pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live. Expectations are quite low.

Served refrigerator cold and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a thin pathetic floater without any cream whatsoever and laughably bad retention (especially for the mere 4.80% ABV). Colour is a clear dark yellow. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Stale malt and water. Maybe a vague slight hint of lemon? A light strength aroma.

T: Watery stale malted barley. A hint of lemon. Too malty. Not layered, complex, or subtle. Not pleasant or refreshing. Boring, bland, and dull.

Mf: Slightly sharp and overcarbonated. Smooth and wet otherwise. Too thick for the lack of flavours. Doesn't suit the flavour profile really at all.

Dr: Difficult to drink because it's so crap. I wouldn't even entertain the possibility of having this again. Don't try it; it's pretty bad. Not even beer pong worthy. Watery garbage.

Pours a perfectly crystal clear yet extremely pale straw color. Modest white head forms then quickly fades away to a thin film. A small amount of bubbles leisurely rise up from the bottom - not the amount of carbonation I was expecting.

Nose has that oh-so-familiar green-bottle Euro-lager skunk. Cooked veggies, DMS, adjuncts. Not much in the way of hops or a more mature malt character. Taste follows the nose, though it is rather bland (which I think in this case is desirable - as the aroma made me wince in anticipation). Light-bodied and watery, this is one forgettable brew.

Appearance - Pours a clear, golden/copper color with a very thin, fluffy-white head.

Smell - Not too strong of a smell from anything. Malty, maybe a little bit of caramel, and grainy..

Taste - Very malty and sweet, barley, and kind of bitter. It's a pretty watered down beer though.

Mouthfeel - Somewhat of a thick body and very low carbonation.

Overall - I wouldn't say this is a horrible beer like the other reviews suggest.. But it's not exactly that good either.

12 oz bottle from a local asian market, havent seen this one before. Pours an extremely light yellow color with a blink-and-miss white head.

Nose is very skunky, even moreso than a heineken! Light and sweet corn aroma pretty much sums this one up...not good.

Taste is...well, not much really. This tastes like it has as much, if not more, adjunct lightness as a hopponshu. How light is the grain? So light the hops are actually noticeable...mostly skunky of course. Id be surprised if the ABV was above 4%. Yuk, this beer blows. Much rather have the regular Tsingtao than this, not to mention almost any other asian lager available.

The beer pours a light clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is exactly what I expected from an imported beer in a green bottle: skunked grain and nothing else. I am holding it against the brewer in my rating since it was their choice to use a green bottle. The flavor has some light skunk notes as well as some grass and grain. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

If you never liked the regular Tsingtao, you'll find this draft version to be more of the same.
Pale yellow color, no head at all.
Skunky aroma, maybe not as much as it's brother.
At least the other Tsingtao, with the skunkiness, had some degree of taste. This pure draft has none.
Avoid this beer.

Appearance - No head at all. Beer is light yellow in color and very clear.

Smell - A bit on the roadside skunk side. With a back of spring water.

Taste - Better then the smell the skunk is not throughout the beer just in the initial opening. There just isnt enough taste to even comment on.

Mouthfeel - Light, thin, and watery.

Drinkability - If you like half coors light and half water this beer is for you.

So I bought a 6 pack of Tsingtao Pure Draft beer at the liquor store. It comes in a 11.2 0z bottle. Americans want 12 oz bottles not 11.2! The bottle is cool looking. It has Chinese characters on it. I have no clue what it means though haha.

I filled my pils glass with the beer and it was nothing special to look at. It's just a light gold color with a minimal head. The smell is interesting. It smells sweet like honey but there is a malty hint to it. The taste is good. It's very sweet as lagers go, and it leaves a bitter hops aftertaste in the mouth. The mouthfeel isn't great. It is creamy at first but it feels like soda water after a few seconds. The beer has great drinkability. It's light body and flavor makes it easy to drink.

I say if you are tired of the same old same old lager try a Tsingtao Pure Draft. It is inexpensive considering it's imported from china, and it's a half decent beer. I thought since it's made in china it could be awful, but it is not. I just hope it does not have lead in it haha.

Pale yellow with almost noe head.
Smell is malts with a faint note of ginger. Very mild hops aroma.
Taste is lighltly spiced malts, with some more faint ginger. Light, watery hops as well. Slightly malty, but mostly watery finish.
Mouthfeel is crisp and watery, with a slightly crisp, yet wet finish. Light body.
Drinkability is good. Nothing special about this one, yet it's still easy to drink.

Pours a clear, pale yellow color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of slight hop, pale malt, yeast, grain, and a hint of citrus. Fits the style of an American Adjunct Lager. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight sweet malt, pale malt, yeast, grain, slight hop, and a hint of citrus. Overall, a good example of an adjunct.

Served into a Bruery tulip glass at about 35 degrees.

Pours a classic pilsner straw yellow in the glass with a white froth that dissipates very quickly. Off putting aromas of skunk (green bottle), grains, subtle bread, & light plastic leads to more pleasant flavors of scrambled egg whites, grains, and, of course, skunk. although there is seems to be more weight on the palate than expected, the beer is refreshingly crisp and dry, but finishes a bit astringent. Overall, this is a beer that would go with pretty much anything because there really isn't anything there. This beer is better than Bud, Coors, Miller, and all of the other domestic lagers, but not by much.

A: Pours a very plae straw yellow with less than a finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Active carbonation clings to the side of the glass and rises to the top.

S: Some malty sweetness, backed by the undeniable smell of lemon zest and other faint citrus.

T: Faint malty sweetness, even fainter citrus sourness; mainly watery.

M: Extremely thin and watery with medium carbonation.

D: This is pretty much as close as you can get to beer-flavored seltzer water. Decently drinkable, but I'd like mine with more flavor, please.

look: 1.5 | smell: 1.5 | taste: 1.5 | feel: 1.5 | overall: 2.5

Appearance:
Pours out to a very clear yellow (likely only beaten by Tsingtao Original). Has a very bubbly white head that disappears nearly instantly without a trace and displays a random carbonation bubble every now and then. Absolutely no lacing.

Smell:
A faint hint of malts and slightly fruity, kind of reminds me of a weak apple juice.

Taste:
Light malty sweetness and a bit of hops musk common to American Adjunct Lagers. Overall incredibly boring. Is this a light beer? I don't read Chinese...

Mouthfeel:
Very, very thin with a mellow fizz. Let's call it crisp, like fresh mountain spring water...

Drinkability:
I could see this being popular with new beer palates (college girls) as there is no robust flavor to speak of. Goes down like water because lets face it, there isn't much difference.

Comment:
Though I just drank "Tsingtao" last night and figured this is the same beer, I thought "They have a different labels, they must be different." I would have to guess this is the "light" variety. Not great and for the money, stick to macro ice beers, same effect but you get to keep more money in your pocket.

I'm trying to be nice to this beer because the style is appropriate and I gave no "1.0's" because they weren't awful, just not present.

21.6 fluid ounce bottle poured into in a Pilsener glass i bout in Furth, Germany in 1969 while serving in a secret component of the US government (now declassified). This brew was very weak in all parameters. the only distinct item was the smell which resembled pomengranates mixed with Double Bubble chewing gum. That pleasant aroma was not carried over to the taste wich not distinct in anyway. Not very drinkable.

Pale clear yellow with a tiny white head that instantly shrinks to a small collar of foam. Not much in the nose, faint roasted grain and that is about it. The flavor is very light and watered down tasting with light toasted graininess and a slight suggestion of hop bitterness, finishes clean. This stuff tastes like a non-alcoholic beer.

Fairly drinkable and inoffensive, this is a weaker, thinner, overall inferior cousin to the regular Tsingtao, which is a very good pale lager.

Pale straw yellow, much more pale than the regular Tsingtoa, this has a small, bubbly white head that immediately dissipates to nothing.

It has a very weak grain aroma, hardly discernable at all.

The taste is very light grain and grass with a faintly lingering grain aftertaste but this also disappears after the first couple sips, leaving bheind essentially no aftertaste and only a mineral-water-like quality. It has no bite and sonn becomes increasingly watery and bland, with the flavour almost disappearing. This sets it apart from the regular singtoa, which has a solid character and feel that hold up very well. This is more on par with Coors, inoffensive but exceedingly thin, watery, and almost tasteless.

Crisp and refreshing when consumed with oft-syrupy Chinese food, but other than that, not worth your time. The Chinese domestic Tsingtao is not much better than the Tsingtao "premium" we get here in the states, though the domestic one is a bit less carbonated and fuller.

Light yellow and light-bodied. Smells a bit lager-y, but shows no promise to the taste. Over-carbonated and little to no flavor. On the mouth, finishes a bit more crisp, but a purchase of one is certainly not any more warranted than similar over-carbonated, under-flavored Japanese beers.

Appropriately consumed with Chinese food, on to the beer:

Very pale straw colored beer with a tint of gold. Clear bodied. The small fuzzy head on top fades away quickly. The nose doesn't get much scent...faint spicy hops (more like skunked hops, amirite?), grass, and thin malt. Very light in the mouth, almost like refreshing cold water in feel. Cooked rice and thin grassy malts provide a weak intensity of flavor to the beer, but this beer is very low on firepower anyway. A faint fume of alcohol makes appearances. Finishes clean.

It washed down homemade Chinese food, but that doesn't excuse this beer from being boring. Basically a lighter, cleaner version of Tsingtao. May as well head north to Harbin for Chinese beer.

From a bottle.

The appearance is blah. Light gold. Nothing to it. Head is minimal and gone pretty quick.

Smells like a typical Asian lager. A bit ricey and other faint grains.

Tastes surprisingly okay. Light corn and barley tastes with a twist of lemon to it.

The mouthfeel was refreshing; good carbonation that adds a zip to it.

Overall a pretty good Chinese lager, nice with spicy Szechuan cuisine. Needs to be really cold though.

11.2oz green bottle

A- Pours a pale hay colored yellow with a thin fizzy white head.

S- The aroma smells skunked with some grain and not much in terms of hops.

T- The taste is pretty faint and watered down with some grain and just a hint of hops in the finish.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a high amount of carbonation.

D- Because of the low alcohol the drinkability is good, but with the lack of much flavor at all I don't know how many I would want to drink in one sitting without getting bored with it.

This pours a bright pale yellow gold with a 2 finger head of foam.

The smell is very light with some notes of grain and a light bitterness.

The taste has some grainy notes and corn with some hop bitterness and a metalic taste. Nothing much going on here and there are a lot of American examples of the style that I'd reach for first. "nuff said from me.
