Humulus Lupulus, wolf vine, or more commonly, the hop plant, shares with its namesake a rather interesting trait: after a decidedly unthreatening beginning to life, upon maturity each species stakes their claim. And with neither mercy nor conscience, will tirelessly strive for, and usually achieve, total territorial domination.

Appearance. Pours a clear, almost glowing amber with a finger of off white head, average retention.
Smell. Nice floral hops, some toasted caramel malts, pineapple, pine, citrus fruits and peaches. A little alcohol.
Taste. Lightly sweet caramel malts and some nice citrusy floral hops. Starts sweet, ends with a little bitterness. I like that.
Mouthfeel. Below medium body with medium-low carboantion.
Overall. A fine pale ale. More interesting than most, with some nice fresh tasting hops.

Single 16 ounce can.
Pours out a clear pale amber colour with a finger of tawny coloured tight bubbly head, but the liquid below seemed bereft of any carbonation; nevertheless a really nice clear pour.
Aroma hits as weedy, earthy, and a touch floral - perhaps a hint of pine poking through admixed with grainy caramel malt; there is a definite herbal smack to the nose.
Notes of bready caramel malt on the palate, followed by leafy, earthy hops and again a decent herbal flavour with a mildly gritty bitterness.
Thin side of medium - smooth enough with subdued carbonation and a touch of leafy green bitterness at the end.
Drinkable enough, never horrible, but somehow misses the mark.

Appearance - Pours a clear amber copper with three fingers of bubbly white head.
Smell - earthy, leafy, floral, hint of piney and citrus, and weedy hops, hint of pine resin, hint of both citrus and grapefruit peel, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.
Taste - light to no earthy, leafy, floral, hint of piney and citrus, and weedy hops which is quite unfortunate. The pine resin is lost in translation. The citrus and grapefruit peel are very light. The bready malts and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with no hops lingering.
Overall - A lackluster wet hopped pale ale that didn't quite deliver on all fronts. This brew had so much potential but just fell flat.

A: Clear copper.
S: Mushroom. Not an aroma I find desirable in a beer. I keep putting it down and smelling it again, hoping it'll change, but it doesn't.
T: As bad as it smells, or maybe worse. Drainpour.

Serving: 650 mL bottle poured into a 0.3 L tulip glass.
Appearance: Clear, bright brownish amber color. Billowing off white head recedes gradually with good lacing.
Smell: Fresh, spicy, pine and resinous hops, as well as toasty malt.
Taste: Nice malty body, definite caramel and slight roasted notes. Hops bring citrus fruit and herbs as well as very restrained bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body and moderate to low carbonation.
Overall: A nicely malty pale ale with plenty of fresh hop character while still restrained and very drinkable.

Nice biscuity malt backbone. Light hop flavours. Expected more hoppiness.
