Presentation: Chilled poured bottle poured into a pint glass. Cannot find a bottling date anywhere on the bottle, but I think this is most likely pretty fresh as I have never seen this on shelves before.

Appearance: Medium orange to light brown in color. Slightly cloudy. Pours a really aggressive, three finger beige head that sticks very nicely. Nice retention all around.

Aroma: Lots of sweet pineapple and tropical fruit notes are present upfront. Really light malt background. Some citrus and pine notes from the hops as well. Almost lemony. Very interesting.

Taste: More tropical hop notes really take hold here. Some mango, lemon, and orange zest notes. A sharp bite of bitter pine on the back end. Some very light caramel notes from the malt. Definitely appears to be very fresh and have plenty of hop flavors. A bit on the sweet end of the spectrum.

Mouthfeel: This is where this really falls short in my opinion. Extremely thin, watery body. Distractingly thin. The carbonation is almost completely absent, despite the really aggressive head it pours. The lack of bosy really pulls down the rest of the beer.

Overall, this double IPA has some nice hop flavors. The problem comes in with the carbonation that completely holds back some of the other aspects of the beer. Overly watery and almost syrupy. The hop profile is pretty solid though. Not something I am likely to revisit.

From the 12 fl. oz bottle. Sampled on March 24, 2013.

The color is orange-amber with a haze and a significant, soft puffy head that sticks around until the end.

Earthy hop characters are first note on the nose with a vague sweetness in the back. But hops mainly.

The medium body is also smooth yet somehow acidic and carbonated.

The taste is the way a good IPA should be with a slight malty sweetness for a millisecond, quickly encompassed by a solid, earthy hop flavor and something vaguely fruity. This is a nicely done Double IPA.

Vessel: Purchased in a 22 oz. bottle. Consumed from a tulip glass.

Appearance: Not good, it was a light milky yellowish brown. It was completely opaque and didn't look very appetizing.

Smell: Hoppy and pleasant with strong floral notes.

Taste: Super hoppy with strong citrus, floral, and tropical notes. I am going to guess there is citra in here. Very enjoyable for IPA fans.

Mouthfeel: Almost creamy feeling, but I think this is due to the high amount of particulate and yeast left in the beer. The mouthfeel certainly did not match the taste. This should be a nice clean beer to match the crisp hops.

Overall: This beer is its own worst enemy. The flavor is great, the hops are amazing, but the beer is far too cloudy, milky really, and the carbonation was way off. The slowest pour I could manage still produced over half a glass of foam. If these issues can be fixed this will be an amazing beer, but until then it is not.

It looked like beginner homebrew. And it tasted like beginner homebrew. It was way overcarbonated. I poured gently after a loud release of co2 upon opening, but ended up with more than half a glass of foam. It was very clowdy, which I really don't mind at all, but it did contribute to the homebrew quality of this beer. And when I say "homebrew" I'm not referring to those that know what they're doing. I'm referring to the guy that just made his first or second bacth. At $8 a 22oz there's just too many really good choices out there. Hey, I gave it a shot.

Pours a cloudy murky light golden color with a huge fluffy white head that shows moderate retention and lace. Smells of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, mango, and a touch of pineapple. Very faint hint of bread attempts to provide some balance. Honestly this smells incredible! The flavor has more sweet and bready malt than the nose lead me to believe. There is a solid shot of fruity hop flavor midway through and a nice lingering hope bite in the finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick bubbly resinous mouthfeel. She ain't much to look at, but this is quite a solid DIPA.
