A good example of a Belgian-style white beer.

Hazy, thin golden with little head and few visible bubbles, but a definite effervescence in the mouthfeel. Aroma is typical of the style, wheaty with coriander notes. Flavours are also typical of the witbier style, but this is a sweet and well balanced example. There are fruit tones in the palate that I don't pick up in the aroma.

Not personally my favourite type of beer, but I believe this is very true to style and would compare well against anything in Belgium.

Pours a slightly murky golden colour, with decent head and retention.

Aroma is coriander and wheat with a yeasty spice and a rose petal like floral aspect. Slight creamy banana as it warms. And a spice I can't pinpoint. And that really bugs me. Something more conducive to a pumpkin beer than a witbier, whatever it is.

The taste is lemony with a hint of marzipan. Dry finish. Sharp, tart and fruity. There's breadiness and cloves, with a creamy banana going on. And the mystery spice that I couldn't quite peg in the aroma is here as well.

Mouthfeel is creamy but the carbonation is a little overwhelming.

This is a very tasty beer and I like it, but I'm not sure it's the best ever example of the style.

Bright gold in colour with a massive, airy head which settles down with light lacing. Cloudy with a significant amount of suspended sediment.

Yeast, coriander, nutmeg, sour berries and banana make up a pretty complex smell though it's a little too sour for my liking.

Nutmeg is more prominent in this beer than any other white I've had, though in a good way. Along with coriander, nutmeg dominates the taste of this beer along with some banana and wheat in the background. Not much citrus to be found here, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

This beer has a great feel to it; tangy with a nice medium body and effervescent carbonation.

One of the better white's I've sampled, I would definitely buy this again. It's well within the witbier style while presenting a very unique taste. I could drink a few of these if they weren't so expensive. I've never been to the brewery but I bet this would be stellar on tap.

Appearance: It has a nice cloudy yellow/golden colour to it. It has a nice white head that dies down moderately and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of wheat malts with some citrus, lemon, spices and yeast.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a nice wheat flavor with a blend of citrus and lemon, some spices and yeast.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

This is easily the best wit I've had out of the bottle. It's surprisingly orange (too dark for a wit), but the haze is still there. Great aromas of orange, yeast, and spices. The flavors get even more complex, with notes of lemon, coriander, ginger, and black pepper. It comes back to earth a bit on the palate, as it seems too carbonated and lacks the smoothness that I tend to associate with this style. Still, this is one hell of a beer.

A: Pours a hazy yellow with a fair amount of fizzy white head. Most of the head dissipates quickly, but a ring around the edge of the glass and some surface film retains in places.

S: Clove and other sweet spices; a nice mix, almost smells like a tea.

T: Lightly sweet, with the spices showing up mid palate and dominating the finish.

M: Fair amount of prickly carbonation, light body.

Overall, a pretty good offering of the style. I'm not a big fan of the style, so I probably wouldn't get it again, but I'm interested in trying the brewery's take on some other styles.

I tried this beer on June 29, 2011 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a cloudy golden yellow with a generous white cap that quicky faded into a surface film. The aroma was wheat malt, light fruit, and floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was wheat malt, coriander, citrus and had a slight bitter finish. An extremely well done witbier!

Pours a cloudy golden straw color with a decent head and excellent retention. Lacing is nice as well.

The aroma is filled with spice and wheat as well as a hint of citrus.

The taste is a bit fuller than I'm used to for the style. It had a fullness which is almost more of a tripel characteristic. Spices are a tad strong at first, but as the drink sets up a bit, there's more of a foundation to round it out.

The mouthfeel is medium full and heavy. Carbonation seemed to be overly aggressive, but for the style it's not so heavy. The finish is slightly dry.

Overall, it's a pretty nice Witbier. It's not actually my favorite style, but this was one of the interpretations that I enjoyed most. The belgian character of it sort of saved it for me.

Pours a dark, hazy, golden yellow with lots of head in the Samuel Smith pint glass. Tastes of slight spice up front, with a nice fruit finish with notes of banana in there. A very refreshing beer. Normally with witbiers, I get bored very quickly and the aftertaste makes me stop after one. Not with this one though, I kept wanting to drink more. Too bad it was my only bottle. Up there for one of the best witbiers I have had to date.

Pale yellow, cloudy and turbid with protein haze and carbonation. It's towering head of retentive white foam wouldn't look out of place on a pint of weissbier, and leaves a spotty lace on the glass. It's aroma is alive with the scent of orange zest and wildflowers. Lemon and orange lend a citric tang to its flavour, which also shows wheat cracker and chamomile tisane notes. Mouthfeel is velvet smooth, with ample amounts of soft carbonation. Fantastic, delicious, drinkable wit.

Pours a very light, very hazy grayish wheat color with an out of control pristine white head that leaves tons of lacing.

Smell is bright citrus zest, yeast, this is almost dank, odd flower notes, pepper.

Taste is sweeter, opens with pear flavor and then some of that funky flowery yeast again, saison like wet straw, very tasty.

Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth and creamy, very soft, very drinkable, less fizzy and more milky than a typical wit.

Excellent witbier if kindof an atypical one, probably close to other Canadian witbiers than to any other examples I've had. Wish this came to the US!

bouteille brune de 500ml.

belle couleur jaunâtre, un peu trouble. la mousse trône sur cette bière, elle est épaisse et durable. le nez s’offre avec des touches classiques de blé, avec un un peu d’épices. en bouche elle est fraiche, elle a une belle longueur. finale agréable et citronnée.

500ml bottle poured into a 22oz goblet.

A - Explosion of foam immediately after I opened it (why does this keep happening lately?). Fluffy white head atop a murky body of pale-amber beer. The cap of foam sticks around for a while and leaves spots of lacing here and there.

S - Lots of fruit, spices, yeast, and wheat. Cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and coriander are the most prominent spices. Light banana, with more pronounced notes of orange, apricot, green apples, and lots of citrusy zest. Light yeasty wheat character is very nice.

T - Really heavy on the spice, but it doesn't get really messy in the finish like one might expect with this much spice. Finishes with a light citrusy character coupled with clean wheat malt, light fruity goodness, and yeasty sediment. Tons of ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon, almost like a pumpkin ale, but with a yeasty wheat presence with a touch of citrus to pull it back towards the witbier style. It doesn't quite finish with as much citrus and zest as I like to see with this style, with more apricot and spice than citrus and coriander.

M - Nice and lively carbonation with a body on the lighter side. Spice character is kept in check and doesn't overwhelm the finish. Still feels quite clean and fresh.

D - Great wit, but it's just missing a little something. I'd give this wit a slight edge over Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly. The spices here are a huge part of the beer, but don't get too jumbled up in the finish, keeping this beer feeling clean and refreshing. Very good, but not superb.

Originally had this at the Seaport Beer Festival this year and really enjoyed it. Was told that some of Charlevoix's offerings would hopefully be available in the area in the near future, and they have finally arrived. Bottled on October 19, 2010.

Pours a translucent gold color with a bunch of fizzy white head. Head quickly settles down to a crown, though there is active carbonation in the glass.

Scent is mostly lemony, with a hint of yeast and spice. Lemon is actually a bit too much in my opinion.

Taste is much better than the scent. Lemon is definitely present throughout, but now it takes a background to the chamomile and spice flavoring. Hint of yeast is also present. Carbonation is probably above average, but not excessive.

Very enjoyable and easy to drink. Overall, just as good as I remember it, at remind me of why I have been waiting for their brews to be available out east. Also easy to see why it one gold in the CBAs in 2010.

Pours a hazy, pale orange-yellow colour similar to pineapple juice. The frothy white head was quite large at first, got retained as a thick film and left some minor lacing

Very fresh aroma: freshwater, bitter spice, grains, a mild banana astringency and sweet malts. Quite smooth and well-balanced. Small gum or lychee aroma comes through upon warming.

Crisp and mild taste. Multi-layered spicy bitterness with a tart lemon or orange peel citrus note.

Light-bodied with a medium carbonation that lasts. The bitter taste returns on the back of the tongue and throat. Takes on a fruity acidity like white wine.

Maybe I'm just burned out on witbiers since a glut of new release wheat beers appeared in my region earlier this year, but I find this one decidedly average. Very drinkable, quality brew but nothing really stands out. Complex and deep, sure, but a bit too much so for me.

Bottled on 8 Sept 2010, at 10:26, according to the label. How is that for freshness info!

Nice tight head, but it doesn't last long or leave much lacing. It does rejuventate though to maintain a small head with the motion of the glass.

Lemon and chamomile on the nose. The taste features these, with coriander and bready yeast flavors. Tart and delicious, with plenty of complexity to hold interest.

The mouthfeel is a little harshly fizzy but overall this is a nice drinking beer. A great thirst quencher and good with food. It was a nice complement to chicken fajitas. I would definitely try this again and especially look for it next summer.

A - poured a two finger fluffy white head into a wine glass - lots of carbonation - large bubbles with a little lacing - cloudy yellow

S - from the crack of the bottle -strong spicy belgian yeast - banana bread and cloves

T - wow this is one complex brew - where to start - chamomille tea, apple cider, cinamon, nutmeg,little bitterness, bananas, cloves, floral - so much to describe but so perfectly balanced that it pulls it off - bravo!

M - medium carbonation and body - slightly dry
with little bitterness

O - a tremendously complex brew that is well balanced and unbelievably drinkable - this is the best witbier I have had and I will not hesitate to pay another $4.60 for another bottle or two

Smells are the traditional citrus...coriander...bready notes...bit of banana.

A delightful slightly tart refreshing beer. The citrus notes shine through, slightly spicey. A fantastic wheat.

Very good for the abv.

Overall this is a fantastic wheat...I will def get this again. One of the best classic wheats I have had in a while.

500mL bottle purchased for $4 - I think it was at Marche Joanette in Montreal back in February, so perhaps not as fresh as should be for a wheat beer. Pours a cloudy white with a fizzy fluffy head. Decent aroma of the light Belgian wit variety - coriander and the like. The first gulp is very quenching - light and sparkly on the tongue and very much to the Belgian wit style. Spices in the aftertaste. A little too light-bodied - but yet again, that's the style, innit?

ABV 5%. 500ml bottle poured into a Weizen Glass.

A - Poured a cloudy yellow with a big frothy head. Head reduced to a 1cm bubbly cap with specks of sediments (looks like it might be spices). Also the carbonation is visibly effervescent and decent lacing.

S - Plenty of spice (such as coriander and nutmeg) on the nose. There's also some bread, lemon and banana. Well balanced and quite pleasant.

T - Starts off with spicy sweetness (nutmeg?), light lemon sourness, more spiciness (coriander?), and a mild tea like bitterness in the finish.

M - Good carbonation, creamy, some tang, smooth finish.

O - Amazingly drinkable. One of the best Witbiers I've had so far.

A wonderful surprise found at le marche Jovi in Hull. This is a lovely beer with coriander and cinnamon notes. It makes a perfect beer for a winters eve. The spiciness is enough to make it interesting but not overwhelming so that it is a very good session beer. i will be looking for more of this.

Swirl poured from a 500ml bottle into a glass mug. Big two finger head on a hazy pale gold. The head sticks around. Moderate foamy lacing. Lots of spice in the smell. Coriander and cinnamon. Well balanced. Big surprise in the taste. Cinnamon up front. Smooth and well balanced. Light refreshing mouthfeel. Drinkability is very high. A superb example of a wit. Could drink these all day.

A- Huge fluffy 4 fingers of bright white head that isn't going anywhere. Lots of foamy lacing left clinging to the glass. A good amount of carbonation is visible in the straw colored body.

S- Belgian spice, most prevalent is clove. Soft aromas of wheat and yeast. Sharp notes of lemon and orange zest.

T- Like the nose. The spice is noticeable throughout, tartness from the citrus zest in the middle. Finish is somewhat dry.

M- Light bodied, perhaps a little to light. Carbonation may be a touch high as well.

D- Charlevoix is quickly becoming a top Canadian brewery for me. This is a very refreshing and thirst quenching wit.

Hazy, stAW blond color with a 2 fingers white head, medium carbonation

Smell: fruity. sweet banana

Taste: sweet banana, with cinnamon, herbal tea
the taste is everything a witbier should be and its well balanced.

Mf: smooth.

Drinkability: excellent witbier, very nice when you are thirsty, refresh yourself with this one
