A beer I had tried a long time ago. A classic in the Catalan brewery scene. It's still a fantastic beer. With a name too overwhelming and breaking, the beer is solid and done with a lot of professionalism.

This was billed to me as the best Spanish IPA so I had to get it. Dated 02/13 and drank in early November.

Pours out with a small beige head. The body is a hazy orange/caramel color.

The aromas are classic citrusy orange and grapefruit, pine, and caramel malt.

Lots of hoppy bitterness on this. Astringent grapefruit and pine with a prevalent malt character.

Medium body and a good amount of carbonation.

This might be the best Spanish IPA when fresher if that's possible. Seemed mediocre.

Poured into a traditional Pint glass from bottle.

App- muddy amber
A- not too much rich, citron, and hops
T- excesive bitternes, not balanced in my opinion
M- long bitter in mouth but not so nice in comparison with english ales
O- medium body, low carbonation. Never a favourite for me, too much bitter to be an IPA

(from my notes 28 may 2012, bottle 33 cl was a birthday present)

Nice beer from Barcelona in the true craft beer fashion. Pours a murky brownish orange into my wine goblet. Very little head and not much lacing Lots of floating particles. Smell is earthy grassy and somewhat spivey. Taste is interesting. Still very bold like the smell with floral hops and yeasty and somewhat earthy. Full bodied almost like warm bread. Overall a wonderful Spanish craft veer. Will seek out again.

Big surprise of a Spanish DIPAish… Rich hop profile and being from these region while a tad light this is very quaffable for a hophead.

Presentation: 33 cl brown capped bottle. White label with an illustration of a scratching dog. Side notes ingredients, style, best by date 08/12, and 6,3% Alc. by Vol. Served in a tulip glass.

A - Slightly hazy medium amber pour with a good frothy head, moderate retention, fair surface memory and good lacing.

S - Citrus and resin profile on the nose with a caramel malty dash in the finish.

T - Taste follows but with a nice sense, grapefruit, resin, and sweet malt touches. The alcohol is quite tamed but the hop bill makes nicely for the overall sense of the brew.

M - Medium body with fair carbonation, long bitter/complex finish.

O - Nice DIPA, and given the local landscape this is quite the daring offering.

Notes: Hmmm, it reminds me very much of a particular DIPA/IPA but I can't come to it right now. With that Galena, Amarillo, Cascade, and Centennial hop bill it sure feels American and does a good interpretation of the US versions… Great surprise for a local craft initiative.

(Original review from some time ago... It took a while to have the brewery added. I understand they still operate and do intriguing stuff. Not so sure about this offering in particular anymore, which again was rather worthy.)
