The beer and schnapps may be overpriced by Czech standards, but for a Norwegian no beer abroad is overpriced! Worth going to for their one and only beer, which is very good. The infamous schnapps (which I drank AFTER the beer) was actually not too bad. Did not eat on our visit.

I got chills walking in. First place I drank a beer with my daughter. Service exceptional. The guys will keep filling your beer until you say no. Say yes to the shots you will be offered. Memorable to say the least.

“Why change ?” Might be the theme of U Fleku. Visited one evening after dinner, likely before it got too rowdy as the music was playing and seats kept filling in. One beer but it’s a good one. Schnapps vendors were just mildly annoying. Did not eat. It’s a classic venue in a good location, but like most popular places, there are better options in town for a BA.

A famous beer hall. It should be visited when in Prague. Probably wonderful if you are in a large group. However if you are there with a couple of friends two beers will be sufficient.

Great historic brewery in Prague. They only serve one beer as they have since they first opened, but it is a delicious dark lager! Cool atmosphere including German style beer halls and live accordion music. Simple but tasty menu as well. Highly recommended if you are in the city!

I'm not sure what I can say about U Fleku that hasn't already been said, other than if you're on the fence you should go. It's an experience that shouldn't be missed.

It can get very busy but they're also very good at getting you in as quickly as possible. Go early if you don't want to wait in line, or at least try for an off-hour (remember this also depends on the season that you're there).

I personally loved the beer, and even my wife who's not into dark beers thought it was pretty good. We had some goulash and thought it was some of the best we'd had in Prague.

The ambiance is what makes it though. The rooms, the guests, the waiters, the wandering minstrels... all without a hint of being "touristy" while still being one of Prague's most touristy locations!

Absolutely not to be missed!

Had visited here once before, in 1991. Now I know it has morphed into a real touristy place, but I wanted to go back for just 1 round, as well as having Alewife experience it for the first time. We stopped by on the eve of 02OCT13, after a good dinner at Pivo Dum and then a lot of walking around town during the evening...

It's an easy place to spot, what with the big-ass clock hanging out front. Once in, there's a hall straight ahead with a service bar on the left. All the way back leads to their biergarten. The room to the right is a large, arched-ceiling room with dark-wooded lower walls and murals up top. Seems like that room was being used for tour groups. We hit the room to the left upon entering. It also had lots of dark wood half-way up morphing into plain white walls. Ceiling had some lovely beam-work, with lots of warm, glowing incandescent lighting. Tables were long, dark and worn, and must be shared by tourist and local alike. Yeah, they only have 1 bier, but it's a solid dark lager nonetheless (though a bit pricey). Service was spot-on, with our biers being right there. We did encounter the schnapps vendors, but they weren't pushy at all. It was a fun time for 1 round, for old times sake! Prosit!!

My wife and I went here in May 2013. Fun atmosphere! We just walked in after hearing about it and got seated in the "show" portion of the restaurant/ brewery. They also have a restaurant area without the show. However, the restaurant was busy and we got seated and watched a vaudeville style show, complete with cross dressing. We sat at a large table with bench style seating. We met many new friends here from all over the world. They have one beer that they brew there. Very tasty! Not much to say about about it because that's all you're going to get. A dark beer without much depth but very easy to drink. I would return here in a heartbeat!

If you want a true Prague experience you need to stop in at "Fleck's Place" during the Orthodox Christmas season. The place was packed with people from every corner of the world. It was very loud and sounded like the United Nations cafeteria. We had already eaten, so we did not try the food, but from what I have been told it is average. That wonderful beer of theirs, however, is delicious, strong, and never stops coming to the table!

A must visit (for beer lovers) if only for the history as the pub was founded in 1499. A little touristy and admittedly neither the food nor beer were mind blowing I still enjoyed the atmosphere seated chockablock with locals and tourists at communal tables. They serve only one house brewed beer a dark lager. Would return

We opened the place up at 10:00 AM (actually showed up around 9:30 since our book listed opening at 9:00). We had an early train to catch and this was the only time we could squeeze in a visit. As a bonus, the aroma of the brewing process was thick in the air. The beer was excellent, as were the toilet facilities. We could tell the place would be more fun with a few dozen other patrons.

Reading the reviews, I was a little anxious about the waiters, hidden fees, etc. But there was no music playing, and we easily brushed off the offer of shots (at 10:00 AM, after all). If it's good enough for Michael Jackson, it's good enough for me.

I visited this famous/infamous place at 6pm on a Wednesday evening (end of March 2012). I confess to being a bit apprehensive after reading reviews (on here and elsewhere) but was determined to try it. As we entered through the main door we were steered in to the left (no choice). I suspect that most of it was closed off as it was relatively quiet. Fair enough, we found a couple of seats at a table (feel free to share a table in Prague!) and before long two mugs of dark lager arrived.

Firstly the beer; I have to say it is pretty damn good - nice quaffable brew with a nice head and some sweetness to it. Please note that it is served in a 0.4L (400ml) mugs and this serving size coupled with the price per mug makes it probably the most expensive beer in Prague (apart from hotels).

The place itself was quite nice; a medium sized room with dark panelled walls, dark wooden beamed ceiling hung with a couple of rustic type chandaliers. And there was a nice clock on the end wall. Rustic "beerhall" tables and chairs. No escaping the resident accordian playing man - I suppose it helps with the atmosphere they are trying to create.

Then later the waiter comes over offering the shots of whateveritis and understood when we politely but firmly declined. These are more expensive than the beer apparently.

I had a second beer while my companion was finishing theirs and enjoyed it. Been there, done that!

Destination marked with a clock on the outside "Pivovar U Fleku", there is more within! This was the 2nd Stop on the Old&New Town Beer Tour of Praha with all of the other tourists I joined up with on the night tour. While I saw this place also mentioned on a "must see" basis when researching Prague, it was awesome to actually experience this place.

While being guided throughout the whole time @ U Fleku, we still got to peek into other beer halls and wander off from our spot. We immediately walked in and had a table waiting for us inside the first "beer hall" and ordered our second round of 0,4L brews. While venturing off into other rooms, there had to be seats for between 700-800 people! Our room alone could hold over 100 people without a doubt and we didn't even get to make it around the entire place! In the room adjacent to us, both an accordion and tuba player where leading the group of party people into song and dance (mostly just swaying to the music and clapping). Couldn't beat the culture and entertainment here!

Very old and antique here, the place it self should always keep this vibe and decor! For their beer, we all enjoyed their house lager of course but then not sure what we had next (this was my 5th beer of the night by then).

Service was terrific for we got served right as we were seated! They have many servers here and they all look very pleasant but at the same time look like police officers!

Now that I recall, we were only asked what size of bier we wanted but never which kind! We all had the same lager to start with but can't remember much after this... Must have been all the great Prague biers that day!

I do remember enjoying their beer cheese and toast and it was something you cannot pass up! Others had sausage and other various meats and all looked delicious as well.

Upon returning to Prague, this is going to be a destination I am going to be coming back to for sure! I highly recommend this place for those who want to see some culture in the beer halls of CZ and catch themselves by surprise with how big Prague's beer halls are compared to our "bars" in the States.

Met some family on a day trip to Prague. This was listed as stop #6 on my Beer Trail of Prague in "Great Beers" by DK publishing.

I ended up doing it third after the Old Town Square and U Zlateho Tygra, and ended up finishing the day at U Fleku.

A vibrant and crowded atmosphere; Traditional Bavarian-esque /Bohemian brass trio playing oompa-loopa drinking songs.

I was in a group of four, and we sat in the Beer Garden; we were immediately greeted by one waiter placing shots of Bechrekova (traditional Czech liquor from Karloy-Vary/Carlsbad), and another with a half liter of the Flekovsky tmavy lezack (dark house beer).

Several tourist groups singing drinking songs, and after several beers we began joining in.

Great place to visit if you have a time.
