We traveled from Birmingham, AL, USA to drink beer here after finding it on BA. Well we were on vacation there also. We arrived at 4:15PM and it opens at 4:30. The owners and their dog rolled up right at 4:30 and we introduced ourselves saying we were ready to drink craft beer. They opened the door and immediately sat a table outside and two menus for us. We tried two Minerva's which is the big craft beer in Mexico. Pretty good stuff, a Kolsch and a red style. I just had to try the chilli beer since it had a whole green pepper in it. The owner didn't think it was too good but it was OK. Good to see craft beer in a market that is so dominated by big beer. Since we were there so early and by ourselves I can't comment on the atmosphere except to say it was very welcoming! The owner is an Argentine who is a non-practicing lawyer. We need more lawyers to go into the craft beer bar business! Thanks for a Good Time!!!

Club de la Cerveza is one of the first craft beer bars that I am aware of in the Yucatan Peninsula. Bar owners Miguel and Susanna were super nice and receptive. They just opened up in Dec 2011 and enjoy talking about talking about craft beer. My wife and I hung out for 3 hours and had a great time. They have nice selection of mexican craft, the majority is European. We did not try the food but the food coming out of the kitchen looked good. They have nice clean decor in a nice trendy area of Playa del Carmen. They are open from Mon - Sat:4:30 pm-2:00 am.
