12 oz undated bottle served in a pint glass. No sediment.

Hazy light amber color; Smallish cream head after a light pour has modest retention, but leaving an uneven coat on top of the beer. Fine carbonation bubbling.

Aroma is very promising, with good level of citrus hops and some floral and herbal elements.

Tastes a little more fruity than most Amer. pale ales slightly sweeter at first, but eventually ends with a mildly bitter and quite hoppy finish.

Mouthfeel - excellent natural carbonation; slightly dry finish; delightful.

O- Liberty Ale is an exceptionally well-crafted pale ale, largely true to style yet refreshingly unique. Overall approaches 4.5.

Appearance: Cloudy, pale yellow/peach; small, frothy head, long lasting; good lacing

Aroma: Hoppy, floral notes dominate; citrusy grapefruit; malt

Taste: Smooth, hoppy, citrus flavor profile on start; hops linger on tongue and throat through mid, finishes with citrus, grapefruit aftertaste; smooth and well balanced

Remarks: Listed as Pale Ale, but seems more like an IPA

The beer is a hazy yellow and orange.

The aroma is quite big on fresh grapefruit and then some biscuit malt. A very nice aroma.

The taste is fantastic as it hits you with tons of grapefruit. Then it has a nice amount of malt and a lasting bitterness. It's very citrus hoppy and then a great malt backbone.

I would say this is more of the hoppy American pale ales than truly an IPA. It does push the boundaries though. I was pleasantly surprised by this. Fantastic citrus hoppy pale ale.

It's darn impressive that this was brewed in 1975, before Sierra Nevada's groundbreaking pale ale. This beer is an under appreciated classic.
