Serving Type: Bottle

Appearance: Pours a dark brown...almost black. Lovely 1 finger head dark tan head that lingers quite well

Smell: Molasses, caramel, slight dark roasted coffee and a touch of dark fruit. Very nice

Taste: Smooth and easy, roasted grain/coffee taste w/ molasses and caramel. The grain/coffee comes first and ends w/ the a slight molasses taste that balances out some of the bitterness that is once again the roasted grain/coffee

Mouthfeel: A touch overcarbonated but besides that pretty good. goes down pretty easy

Drinkability: One of the better porters I've had, and the best American porter i've had. Try this is you like porters or even interested in porters

12 oz bottle poured in to a nonic pint glass.

A- Pours a dark dark dark brown body with about two fingers of fluffy tan head.

S- The first thing I noticed is the booziness. Luckily, a bunch of other things make the alcohol a lot less distracting such as dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, and molasses.

T- The taste follows the nose quite well. This doesn't taste like your typical porter, but I see that as a positive. Rich flavors that remind me of a Belgian quad really shine: dark fruits, a little spice, and even some charred flavors. A slight bitterness accompanies the overall sweet profile. This is damn good.

M- This creamy but has enough carbonation tickle to balance it. I wish it was just a bit thicker, but you can't have it all.

O- This is a terrific brew and ranks among the top of my porter list.

A-dark brown color with a decent tan head and good lacing

S-chocolate, malt, molasses, hint of coffee, vanilla

T-dark roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, earthy, vanilla, decent bitter finish

F-medium body with moderate carbonation, smothers and creamy

O-a nice solid porter with good flavors and balance
