Anchor Porter pours solid black with a thick, mocha tan head of 1+ fingers width. Solid looking, sits in the glass handsomely. Head is a bit fizzy. Smell is of soy sauce, clean metal hops aromas and some faint burnt coffee notes. A little too sweet, a little too clean, not enough big roasty aromas. Taste is a burst of initial burnt malt sweetness, fading into a hop kissed finish with a clean metal aftertaste. Lacks a lot of the coffee flavor I look for in a porter. A little too sweet for me, and I'd like a little less of that metal hoppiness. Mouthfeel is decent, somewhat on the thinner side, not much body here surprisingly.
Overall; not my favorite porter. It's not bad, a little different than what I'm used to. It just didn't scream my name, nor I it.

Color is black, as it should be, with a very fluffy beige head. The aroma is an inviting mix of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Sweet malt comes through first in the flavor, with plenty of coffee and chocolate. Dry, oak finish.
Smooth texture, phenomenal balance and flavor, and at only 5.6% ABV, it's not heavy handed. It's beautifully crafted brews like this that make me love porters so much!
