Pours a hazy yellow with lots of sediment. Big cloudy head, but fades fast and leaves nice rings of lace.
The aroma is nutty, and big banana hints and clove. Nicely balanced with a hint of pepper.
The tsste follows with nutty, wheat backbone and banana/clove balance is nice.
Mild, grainy, and thin with nice balance.
Overall, very easy to drink and very well balanced.

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a hazy golden-yellow with brownish tints, a nice white head, and some noticeable clumpy yeast sediment floating about. Smell of banana bread and cloves, yeasty. Bready taste, chewy, banana and peppery spice, and citric acid. On the heavier end of light-bodied, and quite drinkable for the style.

Up for review is a cold pint of Hefewiezen from Phantom canyon brewing company. Not a bad deal, $2.50 during happy hour. Nice hazy straw color, thin head. Notes of citrus, wheat and spices. Medium body drinks a bit thick. Go get some, try it for yourself.

Aroma - Good clove like spice with almost a witbier aroma.
Appearance - Cloudy yellow with a thin white head.
Taste - Nothing here I can disagree with and with a lemon this beer is pretty refreshing.
Notes - Pretty drinkable if you're not in the mood for the IPA or Porter which are both pretty good. Definitely a go to beer while at the PCBC.

This Hefeweizen poured ok as an unfiltered wheat, a bit cloudy as can be expected. The color was appropriate. Apparently though, the yeast gave the beer an odd taste not normally associated with a Hefeweizen. For me, this odd taste spoiled the beer. Some may like it, but I did not. I had expected a more easy pleasant taste that could be drunk all night. The odd bitterness ruined it as a favorite for me.

Tasting notes from visit to Colorado Springs 4/25/2008:
Look: Cloudy, yellow-gold, nice head!
Smell: Traditional German nose; favors clove esters
Taste: Clovey, light banana notes, sharpness of the wheat and CO2 gives it a refreshing bite.
Feel: Strong co2 carbonation per style rules
Drink: Easy to drink all day long. (Not that I did, but I could.)
General Impression: If ordering this beer and you are a purist, please ask them to hold the lemon slice. As most places in the US do they insist on the fruit. This beer was brewed properly and needs no lemon, unless you just like lemon in your wheat beer.

Poured a nice gold color with a nice littlw hite head. Nose is good. Taste is decent but not that smooth, it had some bite to it. Some sourness even. Not like most hefes. Low bodied beer and an average hefe. It is drinkable so give it a whirl you may like it.

Poured a hazed straw color with 1/2" of white head. Some lacing & minimal head retention, why did they serve this in a standard shaker pint class?
S: Bubble gum & pepper notes
T: Bubblegum, a hint of yeast & wheat malty tartness up front. A little bit of lemon & more juicy bubblegum in the finish
MF: Light/Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
Drank pretty good, just need a little more character to hold it together

Pours to a milky pale golden, forming a small white head with minimal retention and lacing, albeit drank out of a 4oz sampler glass, so I'm not expecting much. Aroma is mildly sweet crisp and clean with clove and bananas, and the taste is just like the nose. Light bodied and goes down easily. My favorite from the beers sampled. I would consider this a better than average, if not darn good hefe-weizen, a style which many American breweries bastardize but thankfully are getting better at recreating. Recommended.

Had on tap at the Phantom Canyon Brewery during a trip through Colorado Springs this summer. Poured into pint glass a cloudy yellow with a slight white head and light carbonation. Smell is great! Banana, clove, coriander spiciness are abundanat. As a previous review stated that if you like Paulaner you will like this beer. I think that is a very true statement because I thought it tasted almost identical to Paulaner. The taste was also great, very sweet/citrusy with a coriander like spiciness to it. Not sure if they used coriander in the brewing but thats what it tasted like. This was a very easy drinking beer, I wished I would have gotten a growler of it to go. Probably my favorite beer on the whole summer vacation, and I tried quite a few.

The beer pours a hazy gold color with a 1/4" white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a nice fruity wheat and yeast scent that boasts of banana and clove. The taste is decent. It has a weak and watery wheat flavor. It still has some yeast fruitiness, but the overall flavor is lacking. The mouthfeel is decent also. It is a low bodied beer with adequate carbonation. The watery flavor hurts the mouthfeel. This should really be a medium bodied beer. This is decent hefe. I would buy it again, but it drinks fine despite the weak wheat character.

If you like Paulaner hefe, this one will please you. Nice and watery, cloves and phenol to spare. All of the friends I was with tasted it and all agreed - not a good beer. Darn! I was really hopping for something a little more like Widmer Bros.hef, - smooth, thirst quenching, crisp, delicious. Give this one a pass, unless you like Paulaner.
