750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/20/2012. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a nice 2 finger fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of tart green apple, pear, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread, clove, pepper, brown sugar, toast, grass, and earthy yeast spiciness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity; smells like apple pie with some pumpkin. Taste of tart green apple, pear, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread, brown sugar, pie crust, grass, herbal, clove, and light yeast spiciness. Light fruity tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, gingerbread, brown sugar, grass, pie crust, pepper, clove, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity of fruit and malt flavors; with a nice malt/spiciness balance; and almost zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a lightly slick, fairly crisp, and foamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish as expected for 4%. Overall this is a very good non-soured fruit lambic. Nice malt/spice balance and complexity, with moderate tartness; and very smooth to sip on. Really enjoyed this quite a bit.

Thanks to Kevin for splitting this one. Not so sure how the infusion of pumpkin beers and the lambic style will work out. Pours copper, and that's about it. Half clear and half murky allowing some light to pass through. A puffy white head billows up quickly and leaves spotty, chunky lacing behind on its down the glass.

There's a nice bit of pumpkin in the aroma, followed by some of the usual suspects in pumpkin or fall-esque beers; nutmeg, cocoa powder, cinnamon. There's a mild sweetness in the aroma that butts heads with the spices; apples, wheat, and a mild lactic character. So far, I'm not sure if this smells more like a typical pumpkin ale that hints at the lambic style, or a typical lambic style that hints at the pumpkin ale. Perhaps that's a good thing - maybe that's what they were going for?

Much to my surprise, the first thing I taste as the beer hits my palate, in fact, isn't pumpkin. Rather, a good rush of apple skins assaults my taste buds and injects a mild tartness into my sense - a VERY mild tartness, mind you, nowhere close to being sour or puckering. I am not left high and dry by the pumpkin, however; shortly thereafter, it becomes nothing but a pumkinfest and the spices begin dominating - cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, light brown sugar, wheat, pie crust....A very complimentary selection of flavors, I'd say. That light tartness tends to just fade over the course of the brew into a delicate sweetness. Aftertaste is full of a lightly sugary, spice, mildly acidic pumpkin-ish concoction. Thin-medium bodied with heavy carbonation and a mouth feel that evaporates.

Hm, definitely pretty different but definitely still tasty. I kept battling in my mind whether this was more of a regular pumpkin ale or more of a lambic, and by the end - I still don't think I've decided. It's got characteristics of both, but just maybe not enough of the lambic qualities. Had this been a little more tart, it might be a different story.

750 ml bottle, dated 20/08/12. Pours clear copper orange with a medium fluffy off-white head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is musty (slightly wet cardboardy) malts, gingerbread spices, and some pumpkin and tropical fruit.

The flavor is gingerbread spices, cinnamon and tart/sour fruits and some mustiness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with spritzy carbonation.

Overall, it's interesting - like a gingerbread sour. I did like it a bit better on draft than in the bottle. The bottle was more musty and subdued.

750ml bottle poured into my Pumking glass. Darker orange in color and high clarity for the style. A thin, sticky white head barely covers the top.

Aroma has a sweet crisp fruit presence to it with some moderate pumpkin pie spices. It actually reminds me more of a sugary apple pie filling rather then pumpkin. I get a hint of funk to it and some moderate tartness but overall the traditional lambic flavors are overshadowed by the sugary fruits.

The taste has a little more of a doughy, pie crust flavor to it, especially in the finish. Again, I'm getting more of a sugary apple pie filling flavor to it with some cinnamon and nutmeg spices. I get a little more tartness to it in the finish but again the lambic flavors take back seat to the sugary fruits.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied for the style with above average carbonation. Overall, it was a decent beer but the sugary fruits dominated a little too much. A little more of a funky, sour lambic presence could have really helped balance it out. It was a pretty unique and interesting beer overall though. I think they also could have labeled it apple pie instead of pumpkin and nobody would think it odd.

Produced on 20/08/2012

A: Pours a very lightly hazy copper to light amber in color with some moderate amounts of orange highlights and moderate to heavy amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy white head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: There are light to moderate aromas of apple, pear, and cinnamon spice - almost like a cider with some apple pie notes. Just the lightest note of tartness.

T: Upfront the beer has a cider like flavor with moderate amounts of apple and pear. Next you experience a light amount of tartness with some spices (cinnamon and just a touch of nutmeg). Finally, there is a touch of pumpkin with a little more sweetness than I expected but it is still pretty light in the sweetness. The pumpkin flavor is really most present in the finish and the after taste, along with some lingering cinnamon flavors.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly prickly from the carbonation and the acidity.

O: This is definitely an interesting beer and one that I am glad I decided to pick up and try - there is a little too much apple/pear cider flavors/aromas in it to be great but definitely worth trying in my opinion. Very easy to drink but it almost reminds me of a combination apple and pumpkin pie.

A: The beer is clear light orange amber in color and has a very slight amount of carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that died down and left some lacing on the surface and a ring around the edge of the glass.
S: There are moderate aromas of apples in the nose along with some hints of cinnamon.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and is a little reminiscent of apple cider, having some tartness and hints of pumpkin pie.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and tastes a little like apple pie and pumpkin pie.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. White head, moderate retention. Mostly clear lacing, sticking to the glass. Light copper body. Aroma Includes a nice, earthy green apple-like pumpkiney flavor? Very slight horse blanket in the distant back ground. Taste is very cider-like with again, I suppose a faint pumkin flavor. Honestly the beer tastes more like a cider than a lambic. Doesn't taste bad at all, but totally unexpected.
