I find this to be a very good kriek lambic, far better than their strawberry or raspberry, but then I do usually like krieks more.

Red, it has a small pink head slowly shrinking to foamy ring and a few wisps.

Aroma is nice cherry, hint of cherry brandy and cherry candy and medicine, rustic funky yeasty hint.

Taste is nice, firm cherry character, but not too sweet, thankfully, although it leans slightly to the sweet side. It has a hint of rustic lambic character underneath - firm but still not enough for my tastes. It has a nice light acidic element. It's very good and enjoyable, with at least some rustic lambic character noticeable to round out the fruit, but it needs more and more depth. The problems it suffers, though, are all too common to fruit lambics (or "American wild ales," too), which to me rarely have enough flavour, especially in the funky/rustic/yeasty department, making this overall far better than most.

while some sweet/fruity beer lovers might get off on this, I found it a little over the top in many ways. the pour is a hazy pale red color, like muted strawberry jam, with a minimal head and nose of candied cherries. I don't pick up any yeasty tartness that I expect in an authentic lambic, and frankly the fruit seems artificial to me. the taste is all sugar, like Swedish fish or something, its pure sugar without the flavor of real cherries really being there at all. I have had some other timmermans lambics, and I think this is by far my least favorite. carbonation is fine and the body is light, but the sugar is so intense that a whole bottle fo this would be near impossible for me, and my teeth hurt after just a few drinks. its bordering on not being a beer in a lot of ways. There are many superior versions out there if you are looking for a more authentic and less diabetic kriek.

This pours a reddish color with a slightly pink head. The aroma is mostly that of sweet cherries. The taste is sweet with cherries and slightly fizzy in texture. This is smooth, fruity, and refreshing. As far as fruit lambics go, this is kind of average but it’s still very good.

A- The deep auburn body is slightly dense with a thin white film that is popping away but supported by a strong carbonation of microbubbles.

S- The aroma of cherry cough syrup has a dark bing cherry aroma to it and as it opens the aroma gets less offensively sweet.

T- The flavor is better than the nose with dark bing cherries being mellow with the sweetness cut back and the fizz helping to cut the finish. The cherry sweetness coats the tongue after each sip.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a scrubbing fizz that helps cut down the sweetness but no alcohol heat to help.

O- This reminds me of a good ice cream flavor there is a bit of sweetness but some depth to the cherry flavor makes it taste like real dark bing cherries. The fizz helps out in cutting down the sweetness but it still coats the tongue.

LOOK: Pours a deep pinkish red, ok clarity, short lived head that recedes to a ring around the edges.

SMELL: Sweet cherry syrup, a hint of musty yeast. Cherry fruit snacks.

TASTE: Mainly sweet, mildly sour ale with cherry flavoring. Has small notes of citrus and very lightly bitter, finishes sweet and sour and a bit like cherry pie filling. Just sour enough to add that dimension to the beer.

FEEL: Light bodied, spritzy carbonation, not really dry at all. Some fruit flavor stays in the finish.

OVERALL: A semi-sweet massly accessible brew from Timmermans. It's sour, but not extremely so, which is what separates the cream from the crop. Average.

Got this has a gift from my mom for the holiday, chilled it a bit and poured her and myself a glass yesterday afternoon. The beer poured out as a nice looking reddish purple color with a very soft pinkish white head on top. The retention and lacing were very impressive on this. The smell is of medicinal cherry... not the greatest aroma of cherries I've come across in a beer in my opinion. The taste is also a bit on the medicinal side and is a bit on the sweet side as well. It definitely tastes like cherries though. The mouthfeel of the beer is thin, highly carbonated and a little on the cloying side. Overall it's doesn't taste natural to me, it's a bit on the artificial side which is common in most cases with Timmermans. It's a decent brew but not one I would ask for or purchase again.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a dark pinkinsh color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is full of sour cherries. Taste is the same, a bit wine like, lots of sour cherries and flavor. Feels medium bodied and carbonated in the mouth and overall is a very good beer.

A: Pours a slightly hazy very dark rose to ruby in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall fizzy pinkish white head that reduces to medium sized patch of large bubbles and a very thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: The smell of this beer is both sweet yet tart with a heavy dosage of cherries - slightly medicinal.

T: There is a light amount of cherry sweetness upfront but the dominant flavor is that of slightly tart yet medicinal cherry.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Very slightly prickly from the acidity.

O: Slightly too medicinal in flavor to be really enjoyable or easy to drink for me. Not the best example of a cherry lambic but certainly not the worst.

A: The beer is hazy dark rosé in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high dense pink head that died down but never completely faded away, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of cherries in the nose—it's not the sweet type of smell you would expect from a lambic but instead smells like a cherry cough drop.
T: The overall taste follows the smell and has an interesting resemblance to the flavors you get when sucking on a cherry cough drop. No sweetness is detectable.
M: It feels light-bodied and slightly tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink, but the cough drop flavors are somewhat detracting and remind me of having a cold.

150th review! Well let's try something special - a lambic Kriek (cherry). Lambic beers are an interesting lot as they are brewed with wild yeasts and bacteria that float around in Belgian beer cellars. The environment has to be just right to avoid nasty contamination from unwanted bacteria, in fact the yeast that is used in the brewing of lambics 'Brettanomyces' is actually a spoilage yeast in the wine industry.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a St Feuillien chalice.

A: The body is a slight cloudy pomegranate with minimal white with a pink hue lacing.

S: Dark candied morello cherries hit the nose straight away, followed by vanilla sugar. There's no denying the sweetness is cloying in the aroma, let's hope for something more in the first taste.

T: Fairly tart straight off the bat. There's an aftertaste of sweet cherries and a mineral water taste overall, but otherwise that is it. Not overly complex like a Trappist brew, however it's nice for a change of pace (if you're looking for one).

M: Little bit watery with the body and with a typical dense Belgian fizz to the carbonation as well.

D: This gets more cough medicine taste as the glass empties. Not really impressed at all, I tried one other Kriek before (which was the Belle Vue Kriek) and it was better... much better as I recall. Give it a try if you're new to the world of lambics and you want a cheap Kriek, but otherwise I would avoid this one.

Food match: Cherry pie... couldn't help myself.
