To commemorate or 1st Anniversary we decided to brew two delicious beers to celebrate! Home, a double red, is our non barrel aged version. Home pours dark crimson in color with aromas of caramel, stone fruit, and toffee. Enjoy Home by itself our next to its barrel aged counterpart, No Place Like Home.

look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5
pours a deep ruby red, creamy 1/2 inch of head. thick body.
light sweet citrus, faint grapefruit. sweet malt.
very malt forward, light citrus hops. sweet. some bitter resin in the finish
thick full chewy body, mild to moderate carbonation. quite full for a 9%
overall, i love 4 hands a lot. easily one of my favorite breweries to emerge in st louis. this however just did not wow me. maybe the bottle release took too long? maybe i expect more hops? idk, but overly malty IMO.

Poured into a Schlafly tulip from a 22oz bottle.
Pours a dark and deep ruby red with a gorgeous dense light tan head that is about 1 inch tall. The head is very dense and sticky. It recedes slowly leaving a nice thick lacing down the sides. The color of the brew is so very deep. Only when held to the light can the ruby notes be seen. Sexy.
Aroma is fresh and clean. Starts off with some mild fruit sweetness and caramel. Not too sweet though because its balanced out by some earthy grain. Some nice peach notes in the aroma along with other fruits. This aroma is slightly backed by some herbal hops that are a bit hidden.
Flavor starts off with some caramel and toffee as well as with the slight fruit sweetness. Its quite fresh and not sugary sweetness. Wow. Then this brew gets interesting. There is a intense herbal hop explosion that comes behind the slight sweetness. The hops are nice and grassy and slightly piney. Much more and the herbal and earthy side. Bitterness is there but not overwhelming. The toffee and fruit notes continue to show up once the first shock of hops comes up. And they finish the brew out working together in a very nice dry bitter finish.
Pretty interesting brew. The flavors are very compartmentalized (if that makes any sense) but it works in this brew. They are all very well crafted and delicious. The taste throws you a curve ball with a intense herbal hop barrage that is surprisingly tame. All this while maintaining a delicious and understated malt backbone of fruit sweetness and some caramel.
