Smoked Pigasus is a robust and delicious porter brewed with rye, smoked malt, and maple syrup. The maple syrup provides a perfect balance for the smoked malt. Smoked Pigasus pours a deep mahogany with aromas of chocolate, smoke, and caramel. A big thank you to Pappy's Smokehouse!

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Deep brown. Transparent at the edges. Nice off white head. Decent surface retention.
Smell - Smokey and nicely chocolatey. Pretty much it but it's nice.
Taste - Less impressive. Much smokier. Less chocolatey, but still present. Bitter in the finish from the malt.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied. Highly carbonated. Disappointing.
Overall - Decent flavors, nice smokiness. The body doesn't sustain the flavors though.

The name had me really amped up and coming from 4 Hands, the excitement was there. It smells good but I noticed from that, there was no smokiness, mostly a roasted smell. No head to it, dark black color. After that, there wasn't much good about it. Not saying its a bad beer, it just didn't live up to the expectations I had for it. No smoke flavor to it at all, a little bit of a sweet tinge to it but not as much as I was expecting with the maple syrup. The bitterness wasn't as harsh, which was a nice thing, along with the chocolate coming along. So, overall, it wasn't a bad beer, just one of those beers with a lot going on that didn't quite deliver.

A pitch black beer with a rapidly disappearing head, the nose reminds me of an imperial stout, but the flavors are thin and blend together to form a dry roasted nut flavor. The mouthfeel is very thin with almost no carbonation. The smoke flavor is nearly nonexistent, and the flavors are nothing to shake a stick at.
