Notes:
This beer brings together tow of our favorite ingredients; hops and rye - serious hops up front provide a pungent, floral, and citrus character. We use centennial, Columbus, and Cascades in this hop lovers dream. The rye provides a slightly spicy flavor and a full mouth-feel. Divided Sky pours straw in color with notes of tangerine, grapefruit, and pine. Drink fresh!

a beautiful clean copper pour with a perfect 2 fingers of head. barely any lacing, which is weird for an ipa and especially one with rye!
smells of pine, grapefruit, garlic/herbs..this is a wonderfully fresh smelling hop bomb!
the taste is sweet up front with an herbal fresh cut grass like flavor.. then comes a nice spicy bitterness of grapefruit peel.. a very awesome flavor profile, but really all just hops! i get a slight hint of what would be the rye malt, but the hops are way forward in this one.. and well, hey - i'm not about to complain!
medium body with moderate amount of carbonation. surprisingly refreshing for a hop bomb of an ipa. i wouldn't mind trying a less fresher bottle to see the effect of the actual grain bill on the palate! definitely a solid beer by a brewery i've never heard of up until now.

a: This golden, straw colored brew has a slight haze to it. It was served to me with a thick creamy head, that never really faded and left solid sheets of lace in its wake.
s: Fresh floral hops with some pithy citrus. Grapefruit in particular. Rye bread and some sugar cookied.
t: Huge, fresh hops pummel the palate with flowery grapefruit rind and some aspirin bitterness. Some earthy rye bread and sweet sugar cookies manage to peek through.
m: Full bodied for sure, but soft and creamy at the same time.
o: God damn but this is some good beer! Never heard of the brewery but I enjoyed the hell out of my two pints tonight. One of the best rye IPAs I've tried.

Thanks to BA Redbird. Divided Sky pours golden with a huge white head that retains for an eternity. The aroma is a bit muted, some rye tones creep up behind some non-descript hops. The taste is very nice, it's got an upfront big floral hop that blends very nicely with the rye flavors. The mouthfeel is lighter and moderately carbonated, and the drinkability is great. Overall, Divided Sky is a great rye IPA that I could see being an easy local favorite if I was in St. Louis.

On tap into a really big pint glass @ Llewellyn's in Wildwood. Pours a clear coppery amber w/ a 1-finger head, moderate carbonation.
Aroma is a blend of floral and citrusy hops and vaguely spicy rye malt. Smells good but a little muted. Might not be super fresh.
Taste is hoppy up front, backed up by the dry spicy biscuity flavor of the rye malt. Finishes bitter.
Mouthfeel is crisp and drinkable, refreshing.
Overall a solid, enjoyable rye IPA but not a beer I'd go out of my way to try again.

on tap at bainbridge barrel house in philly - served in pint
Hazy copper pour with some golden hues and a frothy, khaki colored head on top. Thick retention with sticky, webbed lacing on the glass while drinking.
Plenty of juicy hops and rye spice in the nose with moments of citrus peel and fruit. Scents of malty sweetness, caramel and soft warmth.
Bitter, spicy bite on the tongue up front with rye spice and a formidable hop profile. Flavorful hoppiness, grapefruit pith and a dash of pine. Medium malt backbone with toasted bread and persistent rye spice. Finishes bitter and dry.
Medium body, well carbonated, sticky and lingering on the tongue. A quality IPA with a welcome addition of rye spice - will definitely drink again. I'm glad to see more of their beer hitting Philly, so keep it coming 4 Hands.

Poured this American style Rye IPA from a bottle into a pint glass. This one poured a thick white head, clear amber color, excellent retention and excellent lacing left on the glass. The aroma consisted of spicy rye and floral hops. Smells wonderful. Medium bodied, this IPA has a foundation of spicy rye, bitter hops dominate the flavor profile. Hints of sweet carmel are present as well. Overall, very nicely balanced- not outstanding but a heavy dose of both rye and hops.

A - pours a corn, straw gold with a fairly consistent head of about 1/2 inch. Light for an IPA, hazy.
S - fair smell of rye and hops. Nothing out of the ordinary.
T - instant taste of rye with a hop bitterness that lasts throughout. Spice and floral characteristics of the beer are evident.
M - light-medium body that sticks to the tongue. Well carbonated.
O - a frothy rendition of the style with a strong, but not overpowering hop presence that nevertheless dominates the beer. I could do with a greater malt presence and more distinct hop aroma, but this is a decent beer.

big thanks to jhighlandbrewing for tossing me this extra and the matching tulip! popped on 7/21/91 divided sky and opened the bottle.
a - brew poured a classic murky orange with a massive frothy head that was extremely milkshake like in nature. coated the glass. murky to the light.
s - clean, crisp with nice sweaty hopping and a good dosing of flax like rye.
t - zing. rye rye rye my baby.
m - really grainy and rye heavy. a bit dry. the head froths in my mouth in a similar way that a pliny's head froths around.
o - overall much like the giant country horns in the 7/21/91 divided sky, rye is center stage blasting away. would love to check out the ipa without the rye too...as a fan of the style, this was nice to check out.

An inch of chunky white head tops a nearly transparent golden-orange hue, bubbles of carbonation quickly streaming upwards. Leaves soapy lace behind.
Nice on the nose - Citrus, toast, some spice and a hint of Belgian yeastiness.
A balance of citrus and floral hops is pretty well done, delivering what would likely be an enjoyable IPA on their own. Probably too much rye though - I don't say that often. Though it doesn't deliver much spice, that characteristic rye earthiness is just too hard here - I'd enjoy it much more if it were in the background, providing a nuanced supporting role to the hops.
The rye is really drying, completely wicks any moisture from the tongue. It really rolls around in the mouth for a while afterwards too.
A good beer that could've been great - seems to try too hard to be what it wants to be, but doesn't need to be.
