A: Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head, Some Lacing

S: Lemons, Pepper, Yeast, Funky

T: Tangerine, Lemons, Mild Brett

M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Funky, Mildly Spicy

Overall, a pretty nice beer where the nose was outstanding but the taste didnt compare to it...but still decent enough to drink again.

The beer pours a cloudy light orange/amber with no head or lacing. The nose is a potent sweet tangerine citrus with a touch of funk. The taste carries that tangerine citrus well with a great sweetness and lingering bite. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, bretty, funky, citrusy, well carbonated and drinkable. This is a tasty beer with tremendous bretty/citrus character.

Batch 2 bottle, poured into a HF stem.

Pour: Hazy yellow orange, with a finger and a half of white creamy head. Head hangs around for a little while, and leaves some really thick sticky lacing. This is a really good looking beer.

Smell: Big fruitiness up front, characterized by grapefruits, lemons, and passionfruit. Lots of oak and a floral aspect. Hints of vanilla.

Taste: Big brett presence up front, and more tropical fruits: lemon, tangelo, and mango. Lots of oak and touches of creamy vanilla. A very floral aspect owns the middle of the palate, and carries into the dry finish. A touch of soap at the finish stops this beer from getting a very high score. The soapiness diminishes as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Pretty drinkable. No trace of alcohol, and very prickly carb. Similar to the taste, the touch of soap on the finish takes away from the drinkability.

Overall: I really enjoyed this beer contrary to prior ratings. If 7venth Sun could eliminate the soapiness that creeps in as this beer finishes, it would be fantastic. Like I said before, this disappears nearly completely in the second half of the glass

Pours a murky honey gold, really a nice color. A finger of snow white head sticks around for a few minutes before receding to a thin cap and collar, leaving huge streaks of lace and clouds of beading beneath.

Sour peat moss and grapes... very clean. Some yeasty funk with apple skins, a touch of alcohol warmth on the tail end of the nose. Some lemon-lime type citrus qualities. Interesting stuff.

Mushy pale fruits... it's got some funk but it's far from tart or sour. The heather tips and whiskey play very well with one another but I can't decide how I feel about their relationship with the base beer. It finishes off dry and faintly bitter with a certain astringency.

I would love to taste this stuff after the brett has had some time to develop.

Bottle shared by Kan. Served in a Hill Farmstead tulip.

A - White foam settles to a wispy cap, thin collar, and lots of splotchy lacework. Murky orange-yellow body.

S - Lots of funky, dirty, and earthy brett flavors - vaguely medicinal. There's also a lot of oak and a touch of lemony sourness.

T - The taste has more of base Saison, with phenolic yeast and light malt sweetness. However there's still a hefty dose of dirty and farmy funk. I liked this quite a bit until I got to medicinal finish - perhaps go lighter on the lambicus strain?

M - Dry, medium body, with moderate carbonation. Pretty easy to drink, with no discernable alcohol.

D - The brett has overwhelmed the base Saison, but that's not necessarily a bad thing until you get to the off-putting finish. Otherwise a pretty enjoyable brew that could be really good with a few tweaks.
