A: dark cloudy brown. Barely forms any head at all, but what is there is large bubbly. No lacing.

S: powerful aroma
, full of toffee, sweet caramel, raisin, vanilla, and a hint of port.

T: starts off sweet, with light caramel, cajeta, raisin, and lots of vanilla. Then turns dry, almost astringent, and woodsy.

M: medium bodied with lower carbonation. Finishes exceedingly dry, virtually tannic.

O: an interesting beer. Not sure it's overly representative of the style, but not a bad drink.

Bottle courtesy of ygtbsm94. Served in a sampler glass. Pours dark brown with a bit of a head. The nose has some fairly-heavy fruit notes along with moderate barrel character. Barrel takes the flavor as well with some dark notes and fruit in the background. Medium body. Nice barrel usage. Much better than the base beer, in my opinion.

12 oz bottle poured into a Surly Darkness snifter.

A- pours a dark amber with a 1 finger tan head. Small lacing bubbles cling to the glass.

S- dark fruits, brown sugar, some alcohol is noticeable.

T- some roast, brown sugar, dark fruits, and black cherry.

M- medium body and carbonation. Smooth beer with a slightly dry finish.

O- this is a very tasty beer. The brown sugar and dark Fruits go together very well in this beer.

A - Pours reddish/brown, tan-colored head, thin collar.

S - Dark fruits, oak, caramel, and booze. Comparable to the Highly Suspicious but has more barrel influence. Light yeast note mixed in there too, but mostly dark fruit and barrel.

T - Basically the same as the nose. Dark fruit, booze, light toffee, oak. Alcohol is very noticeable and I think this beer could use some time in the bottle to age a bit. Finish is plums, raisins, oak, and a boozy kick.

M - Medium body, good carbonation, creamy sweet finish.

O - I think I prefer the Highly Suspicious to this one, although both have nice dark fruit notes. A little too sweet and too boozy for me to really sit back and enjoy. This one needs some time, IMO.

The beer is dark orange to light brown in color with a small, light tan head that leaves sparse lacing on the glass.

The aroma brings wine, port, oak, sweetness, barrels, tannins.

The beer is aggressive and strong, but unrefined and imbalanced, Very tannic, with dominating oak flavors. Some booze notes as well. Dark fruits, to include plums and raisins.

Warming alcohol in the finish with lingering notes of oak.

This one has some potential, but as of now, a small serving was plenty for me.

Thanks to pantanap for the share. Served in a Kuhnhenn goblet.

A - Quick-dissolving foam settles to tan wisps, thin collar, and spotty lace. Murky brown body.

S - Massive amounts of oak and whiskey, with a hint of phenolic Belgian yeast in the periphery. Mostly barrel here, with only a modest amount of dark fruits and brown sugar.

T - Taste displays better balance, with dark fruits, particularly plum, raisins, and a hint of chocolate surfacing amid the hefty barrel influence. The aftertaste is somewhat odd and hard to qualify - an unanticipated bitterness. Even though whiskey is a big flavor, there's not much overt fusel character.

M - Smooth, medium-full body, oaky and dry finish, with modest carbonation. Some warmth after a few ounces.

D - The base Belgian has been somewhat overwhelmed (although not as completely as the Porter in Super Fly), leading to a fairly indistinct barrel-aged beer vibe. A bit more balance might yield a more interesting beer.

375ml waxed bottle, one of two bottles released at the 4/20 event, into a 7venth Sun snifter.

A - Pours a murky brown, with a finger of tan head that quickly recedes to a thin cap. Decent lacing.

S - Brown sugar, raisins, and booze. The barrel isn't too strong, thankfully, but it definitely has a bit of a boozy character that isn't out of place for the style.

T - First taste was before it warmed, so it was all brown sugar and dark fruit. As it warmed up it started leaning toward whiskey, figs, and an odd (but not unpleasant) pineapple note in there. The barrel again is fairly subtle. Medium finish, somewhat drying.

M - Thick and chewy, maybe just a little hot.

O - Not bad at all, considering how crowded this category is with quality offerings. For some reason I don't see many barrel-aged BSDAs, so it was nice to see how it impacted this type of beer.
