Poured from a growler purchased tonight. This pours a little thin yet pitch black color with a small short lived tan head. The smells are of roasted malts, some vanilla, a little sweetness. The feel is medium, a little thin for a stout, low carbonation. The taste is okay, good for Amarillo but not comparable to the big breweries. The taste is of vanilla perhaps artificial, some roasted malts the high AVB is hidden.

Appearance: Dark brown with good foam and lacing. A tad bit thin, but a nice complement to a Big Texan steak.
Smell: Caramel malt from what I remember. Didn't get a great idea, but enough to know it was pretty good.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Coffee with an alcoholic whiskey bite in the background. Goes down a bit like whiskey as well.
Overall Drinkability: I would definitely try this again.

Thanks to tizzlejizzle for sharing this growler.
The beer pours a dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma is full of roasted malt and a light amount of whiskey. The flavor is similar. Up front I get some bourbon whiskey and oak notes, which are complimented by some roasted malt and chocolate. I also get some vanilla, but it tastes a bit artificial. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.

Thanks to TATURBO for bringing a growler of this beer to the tasting.
Appearance: black bodied beer with small short lived head.
Smell: Lots of vanilla sweetness and a nice roasty malt note.
Taste: Light roasty coffee, caramel, with truckloads of vanilla sweetness thats not cloying and does not taste artificial. Finishes with a touch of oak.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with low carbonation. Its a BA stout thats thin, but drinks like its 6% beer.
Overall: This held up well in the growler for the trip back. It really tasty and that its best attribute.

Short lived tan head that leaves a collar the entire pint through. Body is a dark brown/black color.
Strong vanilla notes in the nose. Some chocolate undertones.
More vanilla, some cocoa/chocolate, faint cola. Oaky vanilla mostly. Well hidden ABV.
Very smooth mouthfeel, where the oatmeal stout aspect shows its colors. Carbonation is low but fits well.
Very good impression left from the Big Texan with Whiskey Barrel Stout. BIlled as imparted with whiskey tones, I found it closer to the vanilla goodness found in bourbon barrels. Should be a zipper but I was gulping down. Thanks TATURBO for carrying this back throughout the States.
