Appearance: dark murky cola like, no head from this bottle, little lacing with each sip but nothing stays on the glass. On the second bottle poured I might have gotten a quarter inch tan head with a tad more lacing. So, with more head you get more lacing? I'll have to bounce that one off my wife.
Nose: smoky wood for sure and it reminds me of light hickory smoke for this moment in time, mocha coffee is what I get after that
Flavors: wonderful coffee flavor for the coffee lover like me; dark roasted grains; a little dark chocolate bite;
Mouthfeel: short after taste, nothing seems to linger on the palate, slight bitterness on the finish, smooth on the delivery, low carbonation.
To the Point: A nice smoked porter. Not over smoked … not under smoked … seems just right to me. I personally like the coffee note. A fairly tasty porter overall but, do I want fairly tasty for 16 bucks a six pack. I do like it. If it was 9 bucks a six pack I am buy more.

Dark cola brown with pretty much no head at all after a regular pour. Actually, this pretty much looks like Coke to me. Though it does leave some lacing down the glass, redeeming itself from complete cola appearance.
Sweet smelling with a kind of dark fruit thing going on, similar to a scotch ale or dopplebock, but not really. Not much else, not picking up any smokiness, chocolate, roasted malts, or anything I was expecting to smell. Very subdued. Not bad, just not exciting.
The smoke comes through much more strongly in the flavor department, in a good way. I'm not getting the dark fruits I was smelling at all, oddly, just mostly the smoke and roasted malts. Not much in the way of chocolate, coffee, hops, or any of the other things that tend to round out a good porter, but I definitely enjoy the smoke and roast coming through in this one - not bad.
Moderate to heavy body with very little carbonation. Seems like it should have much more of a bite, but pretty smooth anyway. Not a bad feel, but not great.
This one's okay. I think it could use some work to make it more interesting, to compliment the smokiness which does work pretty nicely here. It's just a little flat and not very complex. The alcohol is not noticable to me, despite the higher ABV. Not bad.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass.
A: Pours a dark brown hue with some amber highlights and a thin beige hue that quickly dissipates.
S: Smoked malty aroma with a sweet scent.
T: Similar to the smell there is a good smoked flavor to the beer with a middle sweetness and finished on the dry side. There is a spicy quality to this beer that reminds me of a chipotle brew.
M: Thick body and minimal carbonation.
O: Interesting smoked porter – could have used a little more flavor. It was good but not great.

A: The beer appears jet black in color but has traces of brown visible near the edges of the glass when it is held up to the light. It poured with a thin tan head that instantly faded away, leaving some lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Very light aromas of smoked malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dark malts along with notes of smoke and hints of coffee beans. A faint amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a good balance between the underlying porter and smoky flavors because neither dominates the overall taste.

A: Pours an opaque yet clear very dark brown in color (approaching black) with light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation and some cola brown highlights. The beer has a thin beige head that quickly reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of roasted malts with some lighter aromas of coffee. All of this is underneath a moderate to strong aroma of smoke.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted malts with some lighter notes of coffee. Moderate flavors of smoked malts and smoke but it does not overpower. Light amounts of bitterness which fades pretty quickly.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront.
O: While the aromas of the smoke dominate, the flavors of the smoke are well integrated into the overall flavor of the beer and is it well balanced. Enjoyable and fairly easy to drink.
