22oz bottle into a DFH tulip shaped pint glass. no bottling date that i can find.
Pours a dark golden color with a 2 inch lasting lacey white head. huge westcoast hop aroma on the nose, typical for a cali IPA and something ive come to love. taste isnt quite as in your face with the hops, and not as big as i was hoping for, but they are still the prominent characteristic. slight citrus and a good amount of bitterness on this one. the flavor is lacking though, it doesnt compare to a lot of other IPAs nowadays. the feel is lacking as well, its almost light bodied; i get a watery feel that isn't fitting for a beer like this. However, it makes this beer go down extremely quick.
overall started off strong and faded down the stretch. nothing wrong with this one, but i was expecting some more flavor and a more defined body. there are much better IPA choices out there nowadays.

I was confused before I found out that these are the same guys that brew Ass Kisser wines. Apparently they couldn't find a beer reviewing website who gave it a high score, so they got a 90 from Wine Enthusiast. Okay.
The color is a solid, deep amber, nearly orange, and this beer develops a pretty heavy, chunky eggshell white head that sits well on top of the brew it crowns. It leaves leggy lacing with some patching to boot.
There's a weird dusty earthiness in the nose combined with an overly strong note of husk and some alcohol. It's absolutely too malt-forward for a good DIPA, though some herbal and floral bitterness comes out, and some of the earthiness can be attributed to hops as well. Citrus gives off both sweet and tangy notes.
There's a stronger hops presence in the flavor, but it goes a little too pithy and has a harsh edge to it. Malts do add support and balance, but the biscuit and caramel isn't enough to offset the chalky notes, and the assault of resin would be good if it was well-acclimated to a West Coast type of IPA, but it doesn't fit in this mess. It's nice that tropical fruits make an effort, but they turn sour in the aspirin-like finish. This is what happens when a brewer thinks it's so easy to make a DIPA and has no idea what balance is.
As I brace for hard dryness, i'm a little relieved, at least, that it doesn't go too far in the feel. It's still not great, but there's a little smoothness to even things out and it's reasonably crisp.

Pours golden color thick chunky white head that lingers well in DFH IPA glass. Looks really nice.
Smell is malty with little hoppy presence.
Taste is sweet malt, bread and hints of fruit. Strange astringent hoppiness. Bitterness late. Just not as much hop character as a DIPA should have.
Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied. Lots of carbonation.
Overall this was just fair. Wouldn't seek this out.
