Poured from a 500 ml bottle bought in England.
A - Beer is a medium copper color with lots of orange. Crystal clear. Head is off white; moderately thick on initial pour. It faded to the thinnest of sheets and a strong lacing around the edges.
S - The aroma is a balance of bready malt and earthy hops. The hops give a somewhat aged (not fesh) impression. There is also a sweet brown sugar aroma and perhaps a bit of raisin.
T - Taste is balanced toward hops, but the hop flavor is a bit muddled and indistinct. The malt is mostly hidden. Midpalate I get an astringent hop flavor that reminds me of unsweetened tea. Dry finish fades very quickly.
M - Body is thinner than I expected. Low, slightly tingly carbonation. Low to moderate hop bitterness. Just a hint of alcohol.
O - This beer has some nice characteristics, but overall I find it lacking a malt backbone to tie it together. The hops are earthy and don't give a fesh clean aroma or taste, which would not matter so much if there was more malt for them to blend with. I remember this beer being bigger, maltier and just plain better only a few years back. It seems to have lost something.

From 500ml bottle: a very dark amber colour with a decent head which sticks around for a while. Dried fruit and a bit of lemon in the nose. There's nutty flavour here, a little creaminess and a herbal hoppy edge which dominates the aftertaste and lingers in the mouth. This eminently drinkable but not as interesting as similar beers like Old Speckled Hen.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass.
A: Pours a copper hue with a thin 2-finger white head that slowly dissipates into a wispy lace.
S: Malty caramel aroma with a sweet finish.
T: Similar to the smell a sweet malty caramel flavor. Not very complex.
M: Medium body and medium carbonation.
O: Decent English Pale Ale – nothing special or anything I would seek out again.

I bought one bottle of this at a local grocery store. It’s not a bad beer, but i found it to be a bit underwhelming. Flavor was a bit thin, and while it looked nice in the glass, with plenty of foam sticking to the sides as I drank it, it wasn’t a very exciting beer all in all. Not bad, but not great either.
