Nothing like walking into a brewery and filling the nostrils with hops and malt, drinking fine craft brews amoungst which they came. A great atmosphere, a good tour, and friendly staff, a must stop for any beer enthusiast that might be in the San Diego area.

If you're going on a brew tour of San Diego, don't miss Green Flash! At their tasting room you'll find a selection of super tasty beers that you can't find in stores, and you get to enjoy them in the same giant room that they were brewed in! Whenever I get the chance to go here I like to try out their beers like the Grand Cru & Palate Wrecker that are difficult to find outside of SD. Whether you like super hoppy beers or belgian style beers you'll find everything at Green Flash. If you're not from California, I highly recommend the West Coast IPA as an introduction to this style that San Diego breweries like Green Flash, Stone, and Alesmith have all perfected. If you're there in the fall try the Green Bullet, it tastes like drinking liquid hops! Their Tripel is a solid option, and I wouldn't leave this place without trying Le Freak.
The tasting room has a welcoming atmosphere, and it's nice to be able to look around at the bottling & brewing equipment. Their beer garden is great for escaping the noise if it's too crowded, and the christmas lights are a nice touch. It's pretty cool that they let dogs into the tasting room, and there's a space to buy swag and get growler fills. It gets pretty packed after 5 when all the people working nearby head over to grab some post-work brews. They have a different food truck parked next to the beer garden every day, and I hear that the pizza one is really great. A nice bonus is that this place is close to Sorrento Wine & Spirits (which has an amazing selection) and Indian Tandoor, which will make for a great post-tasting dinner. If you're in San Diego, Green Flash is a must-see!

Large open floor plan with no seating. However, there is outside seating. Would be nice if there were bar stools.
High noise level (music + people talking).
Plenty of space at the bar as most people congregate in the middle with friends.
Absurd selection when I went - almost 30 beers on draft.
One of the best values in draft beer, just below a happy hour Pliny. $1 for 4oz, 2$ for 8oz and $4 for 16oz, with some exceptions for rare or aged beers. I started on the left of the wall and managed to make it through 8-9 of the 4oz samples before I had to quit =D
While Green Flash isn't my favorite brewery in general (most of their beers are overly sweet, and many have a metallic twang in the finish that I assume is due to hard water), the brewery itself is a great place to go as a visitor or regular. Don't miss it.

Stopped by a couple of weeks ago, really enjoyed myself. Its not the nicest looking place but its not supposed to be, your in the actual brewery. All the customers were really cool I had a couple conversations with some of them and they all turned out to be really nice. The staff was helpful and laid back also. And the best part was tasters were only $1.50(which were a little bigger than normal ones) and pints were only $3 for any beer they had, you cant beat that. They didn't have all there year round beers but I didn't really care cause I can get them whenever I want but they did have a few draft only beers like fizzy yellow and a good brown ale, fizzy yellow was probably the best pilsener I have ever had and they also had west coast ipa on cast. Super cheap, awesome beer and nice people more could you ask for.

I visited this brewery with my buddy ragingbull. The brewery is in an industrial building and is easy to find due to a well lit sign on the front.
Walking past some offices you come into the production floor of the brewery where there is a huge U shaped bar and wide open floor plan.
Another bar area is in front of some t-shirts and other paraphernalia. behind the bar are large easy to read signs as to what is on tap, which amounts to everything the bar has to offer, approximately 20 beers. Many staff members are on hand to take orders, 1 oz samples, 8 oz pours or full pints are available. Growlers to go and bombers, 6 packs I think even sixtels and kegs out the door if you want.
The staff are very knowledgeable and answered our questions with ease. Lots about the various types of oak barrels aging brews juston the other side of the bar. We had samples of the black IPA, barleywine, rayon vert, and la freak. All were quite tasty. Left with bomber of barleywine and growler of black IPA.
Definitely worth a stop when in San Digeo. No food minus a truck parked outside and I think you may be able to bring in your own grub if you wanted since there are some picnic tables outside.
Stop in and try some beers.

this review will be applicable for the next couple months (May 2011). Green Flash is moving their brewery and tasting room down to Mira Mesa from Vista in July 2011.
I recommend for anyone who likes Green Flash, IPA / Belgian IPAs, or beer in general should visit the Green Flash Brewery.
The current brewery is relatively small and the tasting area is in the production area with a small number of tall tables, and set of taps on the wall, and picnic table for serving beer.
Both times I have been, the staff has been very knowledgeable, able to talk about their brewing processes, seasonal beer availability, and the culture and unique elements of Green Flash.
They offer $3 pints, $1.50 7 oz tasters, and a $3 flight of 2oz tasters. Each is a spectacular value. If you want to cozy up on a fancy couch or comfy bar stool, you may not find what you're looking for. But, if you love to drink excellent beer and enjoy the sight of brewing equipment, bottling lines, and ingredient inventory, then this is perfect for you!
As of May 2011, the current tasting flight includes their one lager, the West Coast IPA, the Tripple, Le Freak, and Imperial IPA. I believe one of their porters is also included. All are excellent. The lager was surprisingly good, extremely fresh and bready. The IPAs were spectacular, especially the West Coast IPA - truly floral hops.
Looking forward to reviewing the Mira Mesa facility when it opens this Summer.

I went here with a group of people(around 12). The place is in a large warehouse style building. I really like how the tasting room is located right inside the brewhouse, in a way that you are actually just separated by a low wall. There are two bars, one long one where you can taste their beers and another shorter one where you can get hooked up with their merch. I was actually surprised at how many belgian beers they had. I am not a big fan of belgian yeast so this surprise wasn't a great one for me. That being said the people I was with who like the belgians really enjoyed them. Not a shocker, I love all of the non-belgian Green Flash beers. They make great beer, probably preaching to the choir when I say that. Their Double Stout is def one to write home about. We went on a short tour, which was fairly standard. We got to go in their cold room where they keep the packaged beer, it was really cool to see stacks and stacks of my favorite beers. I kind of felt like I was in my own version of heaven, this version was much colder than I would have pictured but still great.

Went down for the Silva & Sleeping with Shaggy release. Place is huge open warehouse with the tasting room right in the corner of the brewery. Staff was super nice and very helpful. They all seemed happy to be there and it made me happy to be there. Big tap line with some beers that don't make there way into a bottle very often. Every beer I tried was excellent. I'll be making that trip a lot more often.

This place was pretty packed... I'm guessing my visit was during their busy time. Of all the breweries I visited, this ones beer most reminded me of my Midwestern roots as there seemed to be a more malt presence and not so hop forward. The atmosphere had an industrial feel, which I think is great for a tour but not so much for a tap room. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Headed there in September '12. My brother's office is down the street and I was visiting, so it was pretty convenient.
Stopped in. The place was hopping around 4:30. Had about 6 or 7 different beers. Enjoyed them all. Had some stuff there that I never had before, so that was nice. Was talking to the dude about their collab with CCB.
Service was good. Grabbed a couple Tshirts for me and a friend.
Will be back I'm sure. Especially while my brother is working
