On tap at Green Flash Brewing Company in San Diego, CA.
Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thin rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, fruits, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with a fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but nothing all that exciting really.

Dark orange ruby yet clear in color, a nice off white head that leaves some very sticky lacing.
Smell isn't too out there, caramel, sweetness with a touch of bread notes.
Tastes fantastic, hits you with those caramel almost werthers original candy notes that transitions into a subtle rum like flavor halfway through. The sweetness isn't overpowering and definitely hides the abv. There's a slight hop touch on the sides of my tongue at the end but I definitely wouldn't say it's bitter. This to me would almost be a dessert beer since its sweet yet balanced.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and fairly viscous which helps bring out the sweeter notes in my opinion.
Overall I do wish I could have this again.. A fantastic strong ale.

From 12/16/12 notes. Had this on tap at Pony Bar on the UES in NYC, leftover from their Green Flash event last week. 8 oz. pour.
a - Pours a clear amber-red color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks pretty good.
s - Smells of sweet dark fruits, sticky sweet fruity malts, some alcohol, and toasted malts. Very sweet and fruity with some alcohol to it.
t - Tastes of dark fruits, sweet fruity malts, sugar, toasted malts, bready malts. Alcohol is much better hidden than it was in the nose. A step up from the nose.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty easy to drink.
o - Overall a pretty decent beer. Not a ton going on other than some sweet dark fruits, but it is nice and no alcohol comes through in the taste. Worth checking out once if you like sweet dark fruits.

Pours a bourbon color with an antique white head. Vanilla and toasted grain on the nose. Mouthfeel is so smooth and medium-bodied it makes the beer unoffensive for those who might not usually avail themselves to the nectar that is the strong ale. It is difficult to believe it is a strong ale. Light caramel flavors with a little alcohol presence. Sweet, light caramel at the finish. Decent effort.
