Had on tap at the Bistro DIPA festival. I thought this was one of the better DIPAs I had that day. It poured a golden copper, with a good amount of carbonation. In both smell and taste it had a good balance between a strong hop presence and very fruit like malt backbone. I would recommend this DIPA.

A-Golden hued copper with a medium white head that held on and left decent lace.
S-Strong pine hops upfront with a supporting wave of citrus. A good solid hop nose but only teases you with what you taste.
T-Boo-ya! Big pine and citrus blast that punishes your mouth....awesome! Obviously enough malt to back it all up, but barely! This is surely a hop lovers brew. A bit of alcohol warmth at the end, excellent stuff.
M-Medium body with an long lasting full frontal assualt of bitterness.
D-A hop lovers beer for sure. Oh, and I happen to be one of them! A truly outstanding 5th Anni brew from Green Flash....tasty stuff!

Pint from Beachwood BBQ for $5.50
Color was a medium orange with a golden tint when held up to the light, head was around 2/3 of an inch and was foamy, average amount of retention, also some sticky lacing after the first few sips
Smell was lots of grassy hops, some pine and citrus as well, also some kind of fruity sweetness that I could not quite identify
Taste was full of hoppy flavors, dry charcoal taste right from the get go, faded into citrus accents that consisted of grapefruit, tangerine, and oranges, there was some malt evident once it warmed and gave some different fruity tastes to balance off some of the intense bitterness, lots of pine and strong amounts of dryness the entire way through, cannot believe the guy next to me drank four of these while I was there, all that bitterness would have got to me, especially in an hour long window, overall it was nice and hoppy DIPA
Body was pretty full for a DIPA, taste lasted a long time due to the intense hoppiness, nice carbonation
Could have drank about three pints of this and then the high alcohol content would have caught up to me, not too filling, taste keeps you coming back for more
I was happy to see this somewhere since I could not make it down to Green Flash's 5th Anniversary party, one of their better beers I have tasted, recommended if you can find it on tap somewhere, one of the more bitter double IPAs I have ever had

5th Anniversary Double IPA. Told it is 9.5% and features solely Columbus hops.
A: Body is crystal clear, copper color. Dense white head, micron bubbles, stays put.
S: Smells extremely yeasty/yeast cake which is surprising given the brilliant clarity. My type of hops:) Sadly, I am almost immune to the aroma; resin tar, dank, mild grapefruit, pine. Hop aroma is cut-off by the yeast presence.
T/M: Crisp & clean malts, gives a sturdy body while not being too sweet or dry. The resinous hops are in the spot light but are perfectly kept in check. Hop oils linger on the pallet like I just ate a hop cone.
O: Outstanding "West-Coast IPA" due to the fact of the extreme hop flavors (oily resin) while having a moderate drinkability for style. It does not feel as if GF tried to just put as much hops as possible but rather found ways to enhance the true properties of hops used. Only downfall is the dominant yeast flavor, but I am just not use to that in an American IPA.

Appearance- nice fine head and deep gold color
Smell-strong resiny hoppy smell
Taste-very strong hop flavor that overwhelms the palate and not enough malt to balance it out...I was told that it was brewed with columbus hops...not by the brewer but by someone who convinced me that is what I was tasting...
mouth feel...medium mouth feel
drinkability...Too strong of hops flavor(rare for me to say) to drink alot of!

On tap at Green Flash Brewing Company in San Diego, CA.
Pours a clear orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with a spicy hop flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and drinkable.

Had this on tap at the stuffed sandwich. Poured a nice deep orange color, pretty clear. Plenty of tan head and good retention. Tons and tons of lacing. It took about 10 minutes for the head to die down and the lacing remained for the entire night (about 3 hours).
The smell was very very hoppy. Really nothing else to smell except a bit of sweetness. I can only assume that the sweetness is malt. The hops are both piney and citrusy. Very pleasant and very over the top.
The taste was mostly citrusy hops. There was some malt back bone but it was way too bitter to properly enjoy. I can't even guess at the IBU rating on this one. I would imagine that at some point our tastebuds can't tell the difference, kinda like with spiciness. The taste that was there was good and fruity in the initial taste but the aftertaste was very dry and bitter. Too harsh in my opinion.
Body was heavy and this beer will clear out your throat, as allergy season approaches this beer could be a good way to warm up an evening of beer tasting.
