Had on tap at the Moan and Dove. Very dark, murky orange-gold color with great lacing. Very, very rich hop and citrus aromas. Taste was awesome except for the lingering bitterness that became annoying after awhile. Still, this drink was an awesome flavored IPA. Mouthfeel had a decent texture to it, making it seem a little thick due to the tons of ingredients in it. However, it was not like some IPA's I have had where I needed a spoon to drink them. Overall, a great IPA.

On tap at Papago's in Scottsdale, AZ. Color is a deep yellow with a minimal head. Smells strongly of citrus, but the taste is a bit two-dimensional. Strongly bitter, with a narrow range of citrus flavor, but it just doesn't quite achieve the level of multiple citrus flavor that the best San Diego IPS get. Still a very good beer, and quite drinkable.

On-tap at Tally Ho in Bethlehem, PA, served in a pint glass
A: Hazed dark amber/copper color with a thick, retentive white head that leaves thick sticky clumps of lacing.
S: Strong, sweet hoppy smell, very citrusy and grapefruit.
T: Body has strong slightly sweet malt background and then tons of citrus and grapefruit hop bite. Very smooth, creamy body with perfect carbonation. However, the sweetness and citrus cover leave the finish lacking in bittnerness which makes this very drinkable, but not quite what expected for the style.

On tap at Coronado Brewery. Golden with a an average white head. The aroma is lemon, grapefruit, orange, pine and spicy hops. Almost smells like Fruit Loops. The taste is similiar to the aroma. Dry and bitter throughout with a heavy bitter finish. This is a very flavorful beer.

Copper brown ipa with a nice frothy head and sticky crusty lacing that grabs onto the glass.
Aroma is of huge piney dry bitter ipa. Grapefruit and even more pine punch through. Bitter citrus pith.
Big medium dry mouthfeel. It would be the perfect candidate to IIPA-cize. If just enough malt could be added to boost up the alcohol, without compromising the big hop flavor this would be an A+ IIPA.
One of the hoppiest ipa's I've had. Big west coast hops and did I say pine? Resiny and oily. Yummers.
It's not a session or pounding beer, definitly a slow drinker as it has a a really strong personality.

A- Golden brown color, cloudy, thin white head that faded to a thin ring
S- Lemons, oranges, light floral hops, pale malts, hint of pine auroma
T- Strong citrus flavor, grassy, earthy hops, pine, grapefruit, light malts
M- Medium body, low/medium carbonation, strong bitterness, dry finish
D- Over all great IPA
I would recommend this beer to anyone who is a true IPA lover. Great auroma and flavors.

Pours a slightly hazy copper color with moderate head.
Aromas of hops, with grapefruit and citrus notes with Just a hint of malt to hang in there.
The flavor is well-balanced with the aggressive hops shining through. the finish is pretty long and dry. A nice West coast IPA that I am quite fond of.

Growler filled at the Finger Lakes Beverage center in Ithaca. Enjoyed several pints. Pours a slightly hazy light orange with frothy white head and lots of lacing. Heavy citrus hop aroma and taste to match with hints of grapefruit. Sweet in the middle with a nice dry finish. Very typical west coast example of this style. Medium body with great drinkability.

a beautiful light copper color, with an off white head leaving lacing on the side of the glass but not going away. the smell is a wonderful array of hops, I'm sure if they weren't there I would pick up on more of the malts that I'm getting a hint of. the taste once again continues the blast of hops but the malts come through a bit better, and it doesn't lack for carbonation. All in all a really good IPA, I think I'm going to cut my girlfriend off and drink the rest myself.

Had this recommended to me from a buddy I worked with who is IPA-crazy and had a growler filled from Consumer's Beverages in Orchard Park, NY. Color wasn't special until I saw it backlit in my refrigerator - it glowed ruby red and poured a red-orangey color into a pint glass with frothy head also tinged with orange. Smell was all pine and citrus, very nice and crispy smelling as was the taste up front. After a couple of seconds, the bitterness kicked in and it left a very hoppy afterpresence in the mouth. Beer was unfiltered and chewy, I would have liked a little more malt presence, but it went down nicely. Except for the hop dragon breath afterwards, this is an exceptional beer. Very tasty, an excellently representative American IPA.

On tap at EJ Phair in Concord, CA.
Poors a brilliant orange with 1/2 inch of foam. Smells of PUNGENT pine that sticks in your nose and coats your nostrils. Tastes of thick pine resin and grapefruit. It's catty, thick and sappy. This is no session beer, but it highlights the West Coast hops nicely. Brilliant Beer, but it's a sipper.

I was looking for something to cut into the intense sweetness of an over-exuberant porter and found this beer to hit the spot. There's an intense hop bite from the first sip, but it's not something that's overwhelming. Pine, floral, fruits, they all blend nicely together to create and exceedingly easy drinking IPA. I could have kicked back a few of these without noticing the ABV, too. Overall, a very tasty west coast IPA.

Had a draft at the Toronado, San Fransisco.
A: Gold with lost of rising bubbles, thin white head.
S: Full-o-citrus, low malt & esters.
T: Med malt with huge hop flavor. All US citrus and more citrus, becoming too much. . . is that Simcoe I taste? Way out of balance. A hop hammer which can be good, but usually not great.
M: Medium body with high CO2 and prickly pallet.
D: Medium to low due to lack of balance. I wonder how the hop shortage will change this beer?

Talk about hops! This is the hoppiest beer on the planet. I've been trying all the IPA's from all the breweries and nothing that I've tried even comes close to comparing with this IPA. Again... if you're into hops and the bitterness from extreme hoptivity... THIS IS YOUR BEER!
The brewery is kinda lame. The lady that works there doesn't know anything about their beers or beer in general. Don't tip her.
Peace

A-Deep amber/orange with a medium off-white head. Left nice lacing.
S-Piney and citrus hop notes dominate. Maybe the slightest tease of sweet maltiness.
T-Kerr-POW! The aswesome piney/citrus PUNCH that only a well made west coast IPA can bring. This one is about as good as it gets. Malt sweetness only acts as a vehicle for the hops.
M-Sharp and crisp with a nice medium-light mouth. Slightly oily at the end...but how can you not see that coming?!
D-Totally! This is one of my top 5 west coast IPA's for sure. I could sit and drink this all night. As for the 7%...you'd never guess...which could be bad!

On-tap at Liberty St. Tavern.
Bottom line: big hops yet drinkable. This toes the line of being too hoppy, but doesn't cross. Maybe my pour was just had the CO2 turned down, but there was zero head and lacing on this pint. The aroma was of big juicy, reisinous grapefuit with floral notes. The flavor expands with more citrus rind that is a nice mix of rough and smooth hops. I can't say enough about the balance here. Not of the mix of hops and malt, but enough hops and too much. Reminds me of Masala Mama of Town Hall in Minneapolis.

Last call for me at the Brazen Head Cask Fest. One of the few beers that night(Friday) with any noticeable flavor. If my mouth was having a bad day, then this stuff would of surely killed me on any other.
It's cask, so it ain't exactly pretty. It squeezed off just a touch of head, & the floaties were still groggy, so it's a better then average pour to me.
Imagine lighting some Tibetan medicinal incense(the ones with over 800 "cleansing" ingredients), noticing how "wet" it smells, then promptly suck it up your left nostril. Then chase it with a spritz of Pine-Sol. Double Simcoe, Ruination, this hurts like nothing else I've had. If it was dialed down a notch & a half I could of appreciated it more. It smells better from a distance. :P
Now, regardless of what you read, I'm not a hippy. I just happen to like incense. I have a regular everyday job & the last time I saw a hackey sack, I crushed it with my love of capitalism.
For taste, rancid Ecto-Cooler is probably the easiest way for me to describe the taste. A whole lot of grapefruit juice mixed in with a squeeze of extra harsh SunnyD. Practically burns your throat. Maybe a couple stale croutons are floating around in there, but it's all concentrated hop juice. It's hard to define the alcohol in all this. I'm sure some people drink the stuff for breakfast & toasted with it at their wedding, but it's too much for me.
Mouthfeel, as with nearly all cask pales I've had, is a smidgen thicker then the norm. Sediment is only obvious once you reach the bottom. Even for cask, carbonation was low.
I just can't drink it. I had a few other patrons rooting for me. Even a try & chugging the last few ounces almost ended in disaster.

Pours a dark amber. No head at all. Nose is saturated pine and peaches. Extremely intense. Flavor is areal zingy concoction. Thick resin edges. Earthy citrus tones. Feel is slick on liquid and the carbonation is low. Feels nice though. Drinkable, but there is a lot of edge to this though that I'm not sure I remember experiencing on the bottle.

a: The color of this one was a slightly darker than average golden orange. It was served to me with a thin white head.
s: Once this warmed up, a wonderful citric hop aroma emerged. Slightly sweet grapefruit and maybe some lemon or pineapples as well.
t: The taste mirrored the smell. It had a bit more brown sugar taste than I would have liked, but the huge citrus hop finish more than made up for it.
m: Sticky and well carbonated.
d: The tap selection was too tempting for a second one, but I was tempted.

From cask ...
The beer poured an orange light brown color with a lacey head that retained well beyond the initial pour. There was a slight cloudiness to the beer, but quite minimal and transparent overall.
The smell was exceptional ... what you'd expect from an IPA. Very fresh on the nose with a grassy pine aroma that you'd expect from a walk in the forest.
The citrus notes came in very strong all the way through from sip to swallow. Grapefruit is the overwhelming flavor, one that I'm not particularly fond of.
This flavor left you with an extremely dry feel in the mouth in terms of the overall finish. I couldn't help but feel parched on the tongue.
The tastes I was not fond of mellowed out after by about the second or third pint; however, the first pint was not easy to drink.
On Night #2 of trying this, I was not able to get past the first pint at all; hence my low score in drinkability.
I'm quite a Hop Head --- but I'm not a fan of grapefruit so it makes it quite difficult for me to appreciate this particular beer despite my love for IPAs.
I'd probably overlook this beer in the future, but would be very interested in trying other beers from this brewery.

On tap at yardhouse in Irvine. Beer golden-copper in color with a slightly foamy head. Scent of citrus, grapefruits and some pine. Taste was excellent. Reminded me of eating California grapefruit with some light citrus. Very little bitterness on the tongue. Very drinkable, recommend it out of the tap versus the bottle.

Nice head and golden brown color
Pretty strong for an American IPA with a long aftertaste, which was a good thing
Not as good as everyone says it is, but still not too bad
Another San Diego brewer to look out for in the future

Nice beer that I tried at a ale house in Oakland. Medium amber color that had a thin head with wispy lace. Strong aroma of citrusy hop, same on the taste buds though malt balancing was evident. Nice mouth feel and drinkable. Never heard of this brewery until today, if their other beers are like this they should be fine.

I've had a bunch of bottles of GFWCIPA but this bottle I just had right now was a revelation. I'm bumping my score up from 4.8 to a 5.0, because this beer is amazing. I'm getting a tropical fruit explosion like I've never seen in this beer. Wow. One of the best bottles of beer I've ever had.
___
1/10/09
Had on tap at Hamilton's for the first time since having a bottle 2 1/2 years ago. This was as good of a beer as I remember, and it was even better than I thought. Bumping up the scores because this is a top notch IPA by far. The spiciness from the hops is crazy in this beer. A very peppery sharp character coming from the hops is a lot different than other IPA's in the area, yet it is in many ways similar to them as well.
___
From a 12oz bottle, pours a very clear copper tinted with some redness, and an abundant off-white head that keeps a 3-4mm cap the entire drink. Lacing is also very good. Smell is strong with pine and citrus.
Taste is of lots of pine and citrus, with an aggressive bitterness that takes on a leafy hop taste. One of the more bitter IPA's I've come across, reminding me of Port's Wipeout IPA.
Mouthfeel is pretty slick, a full bodied IPA for sure. The alcohol being at 7% makes this a strong one. Drinkability is not too bad. I like hops, though I wouldn't say I'm a full on hophead, so a strong hop bitterness like this can wear me out after a bit.
